Hilton does Darndale?

After 3 seasons, FOX producers are considering their options for the Paris Hilton reality vehicle 'The Simple Life'. The TV show, which stars Paris Hilton, heiress to the Hilton Hotels fortune, and Kimberly Stewart, daughter of rock star Rod Stewart, was due to start filming for its 4th season early this year. Stewart was brought into the show at the end of the 3rd season, following the well publicised bust-up between long-time pals Hilton and Nicole Richie, daughter of music legend Lionel.

As part of a deal with Hilton's Hotel Group, the 2006 series was due to start filming in Dublin, Ireland, where a new Hilton Hotel opened last year. Paris and Kimberly were to be hired as housekeeping staff and sent to live in an average Irish home near the hotel.

However, the deal seems to have struck a rock in the form of Ireland's Justice Minister, Michael McDowell, who is refusing to issue visas to the pair. A spokesperson for McDowell, who is no stranger to controversy in Ireland, stated that visas for persons wishing to be employed in the hotel industry "would not be issued under any circumstance, as there are many Irish and European citizens available for those jobs", but refused to comment on the specific case.

The shows producers are now looking at other scenarios and locations for the 2006 series

Can't you just picture Hilton and entourage hanging out in Darndale?
I recon that if men knew she was on d housekeepin staff then she'd be left a few presents by the "guests"

would you still do her after seeing her mediocre performance in
1 night in paris ( i mean come on who answers the phone during sex )
even after how you say "tripple wraping the rascal before going in"
    would you risk it

Michael McDowell is the biggest f*cking killjoy going, lets hope he'll be gone somewhere in the near future.
Somehow I can't imagine Paris Hilton in Darndale. What a picture that would paint of our city.

    coolsmileygirl - bitching? jealous ?

paris hilton - i'd lash her out of it, no questions asked. i live quite close to this hotel too.

We all know coolsmileywan is jealous of the Hilton wan, but she has a point, I'd cringe if the world saw Darndale as a 'typical' Dublin area.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 620 ✭✭✭MaxBax

you've obviously never been in this hotel or near it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

    What makes you say that?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭Rb

Theres absolutely no defending darndale, it is a kip full of trouble and thats a well known fact.
It'd be a disgrace if it were shown as a "typical Dublin area" with "typical Dublin people".

i don't get it, surely she can get a visa as "working on tv show" and cos her family owns the hotel they can just let her **** it up for a couple of days if they want to???

90 day visitors visa and off she goes! :D

If this story is true, then McDowell deserves a high five! (I'm ghettofabulous) It's hilarious. :D

    I particularly like this quote:
A spokesperson for McDowell......stated that visas for persons wishing to be employed in the hotel industry "would not be issued under any circumstance, as there are many Irish and European citizens available for those jobs", but refused to comment on the specific case.
    Nice one.

Well, it did settle down a bit after the councils 'reversed' the houses around a few years ago, but I think that was more to do with people spending a lot of time figuring out where their front door was.

    Cool similey girl,

and all of you for that matter who think that the hilton is slap bang in the middle of buttercup park please, get a map and some sence of direction about you, the hilton is not in darndale i live closer to the hotel, in clare hall so any of you come onto this board and say the people who live in these areas are not normal dublin working class, we are the ****ing working class.

    my bad.

    Volvoboy wrote:

My point was that Darndale is not a typical Dublin area, nor are the people living there typical Dublin people. Most people would know what I mean by that.
It would be a horrible representation of Dublin should that show be filmed there giving people the idea that thats what the average Dubliner and Dublin area is like.
Think of it, people all over the world seeing absolute knackers trying to chat up Paris Hilton, for one they'd need subtitles on the bottom of the screen so that they could follow whats being said and also think of how cringeworthy it'd be.
"Storeeee Par-diss, ye wanna come for a roy-ide in me mow-err?" etc etc, a horrible image to portray of the typical Dubliner.

Now before you go on a mad one about Darndale not being 100% full of knackers. of course there'll be a few normal joes who don't mean anyone any harm and work for their living etc, every area has its good and bad people but in this case the bad people vastly outnumbers the good people.

Darndale is the place guys from Clontarf say they're from in order to make themself sound "harder" when involved in a fight/row.

    Get it?

then where is clontarf, templeogue, d4? the places the government would like to be on the worldwide screen and showing the the world were not still picking potatoes, and were a rich bunch?

i think you have two problems

1 your green with envey that they didnt pick the s/s to record this ****e

2 the only time you've ever been up this way is when the taxi driver says theres darndale as your going to dublin airport for two weeks of skiing in the alps.

pull the head out of you arse dry behind the ears, and meet me in the blacker so i can buy you a pint of the knackers champange to the fella who pissed me off to no end.

i know i've posted some stereotypical views of people on the southside but you have to fight fire with fire.

its bull story.she wouldnt actually be employed in her own families business so wouldnt need a visa etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,984 ✭✭✭✭Lump

Hmmm, I'm sure that's typed wrongly, Anyway, Rich people are normally exempt from Visa applications. According to the application for US Visa's. It's be a really stupid thing to have done, I assume the Hilton group have just invested a couple/few Million in Dublin and then the government to refuse them a visa! Daft TBH

No, Foxrock, Ballsbridge, Donnybrook etc aren't typical Dublin areas either.

No, I'm more worried that it'll make Dubliners look like scum who can't even speak properly. Knackers aren't the people I'd like to be represented by tbh.

Sure wouldn't it be gas to have her somewhere in Darndale. If the boys up there give her loads of stick...f'#k it. Keep the rest of those American tourists away... they annoy me to understate it. I used to have great fun convincing them that Dublin was at war with the rest of the country.

Yes, because that'd be good for the economy.

What a brilliant idea... I should have told them that we were fighting the 'axis of evil' in the area known as Cork and we could have got loads of aid off them for it....

I think people being very unfair towards Darndale. It's not the same place it was in the 80's... and it is pretty much a typical enough north dublin suburb at this stage.

And if you've never actally been there then you definitely shouldn't be passing judgement on the place.

Id actually pay per view of an episode where they have to live in a Darndale house with 8 screaming kids, a constantly drunk husband and a wife with a vallium dependency :D

That sounds about right for Darndale.

More like fighting retard with retard tbh.

On the subject of Paris' herpes, is it genital or oral herpes she has? Cos it's not so bad if it's oral.

The show'd be much funnier if it were in Cork...I'd laugh just to see her try to understand them ^^

it could be equally funny in a rich suburb too, with all the local Abercrombie-clad kids trying to impress her :p

    Load of bollox tbh.

wtf would she need a visa for? You only need a visa to work, to work you have to be getting paid, do you think they couldn't have found a loop-hole here?

Like don't ask for payment off the people she house-keeps for, and then the tv show makers pay her when the shows completed or whatever...

Look ,i'm no Thomas Mesereau or Johnnie Cochran, but i've a feeling if it was true they'd have found a way around it.

Even an entertainer visa or something like the musicians or actors filming in ireland would get.

Wether true or not, it would definatly improve the show. Comedy could not get any better... :D
