Just after playing MTT. Down to last 20 but only 18 get paid. Had about 10,000 chips and blinds 6/12. Villain had same amount of chips exactly.

I was BB and got dealt AK hearts. Folded around to villain and he goes all in. He has been playing fairly loosely throughout the game and had been lucky a few times. Everyone else folded it around to me. I put him on AJ and thought i had to call. Made the call and he turned over KQ offsuit and im way ahead and he hits a straight on turn and im out.

Was i right to play this hand at this stage in tourney?

If you wanted to win, yes you were correct.

If 18th prize was important to you (i.e. was enough for a life saving heart operation for your beloved pet hamster) then you should have folded.

Crossed with breadmonkey... he is correct. I assumed though that you meant 600, 1200??

The blinds were hardly 6/12 at this stage.... surely you mean 600/1200?

I think you made the right call and just got unlucky, you had him dominated and he got very lucky. Obviously you could of just folded in order to not be on the bubble but people who do that rarely win mtts.

You cant be falted on this play. I think at worst he had a medium pocket pair and you were racing, but you didn't put him on a pocket pair and you were right so it was definately the right call.

Some people play to win at this stage and some play to get into the prize money before they make their move. Would you have been happy going out 18th ?

I was not playing for 18th, i was out to win the tourney. I thought i had good chance if i doubled up as table was very loose i fancied my chances if i got any cards to do well.

Oh Hammy... painful memories of my busted JJ that denied him the treatment......

Aaaaaanyways. Correct call. You had only 9BBs left, striving to get into a more comfortable position.

Actually, with 9bb I suppose I would have called. The 6/12 threw me!

I find this bewildering. How did you put him on precisely AJ?

I assume he meant a hand that he dominates, A10+, any two faces..

Good read, Perfect call, bad result. Lick your wounds and do the same thing next time.
