Audio/Video out of sync

this happens from time to time and is either a memory issue or else is a result of me forwarding a video (which is a pain, I was watching a US tv show and if I wanted to fast forward the ads I'd have to put up with a 1 second delay on the audio afterwards).
It also seems to happen on WMP, VLC, WinDVD... so what's the solution?
Now I find a show my American Cousin recorded for me is totally out of sync from the start, and it seems to be regardless of what other programmes are running (and so what RAM is used up) and regardless of the media player...

Will I just need to get it again, or is there some codec issues?

What show, season and episode ? it could just be the recording your cousin did!

As Irishpimpdude said, often I find that it's the cousins fault and not snced properly. LOST suffered from this quite often up until recently.

    scrubs, latest episode (510).
It's the first time I've come across the problem; and my cousin has managed to get me just about every episode of scrubs excusing some series 1; same applies for Family Guy.

I suppose I'll just give him a bell and see if he can find a repeat of it anywhere.

lets just drop the cousin sh1te for a while.
There was a version of scrubs episode 5x10 released to most bittorrent sites the other day with the audio way out of sync. Shortly later, a fixed version was released.

    Many thanks...
I actually got both torrents, but the repack must have been just up as the original dl'd very quickly but the repack didn't move...
Now it's the opposite, the original is dead and the repack is flying along, many thanks!
