Questions about poker in Dublin from an English fish

Pleased to meet you all. I hope someone can answer my questions and they are not too tedious.
Myself and several friends are coming to Dublin on a friday night in a few weeks and are hoping to play some poker.
I have a vague idea about what's on offer from the casino's websites: seems like theres usualy a E25 rebuy at the Merrion and a E100 freezout at the Sporting Emporium. The Fitz game is a E55 rebuy with only one rebuy or add on allowed? How does Scalps work?
Basically I would also like to know how many runners usually and what sort of money they make? Which would be our best bet d'you think?
Bloke on Laddies told me that the Merrion only got 3 or 4 tables is this right?

What's the cash action like at all three...... is it possible to get a game where a E100 buy in wont be too short?

We are coming straight from the airport so it will help if we know in advance were we are going, wont have time for a look see first.

And finally, how long does it take to get into Dublin from the airport on a friday night and any idea what a taxi will cost us?? (pretty random question I know but it can't hurt to ask).

Thanks for the help in advance, Captain.

The Fitz usually gets 70-80 runners for the friday tournie. The scalp is just a token worth a tenner that a person loses when they get eliminated from the tournie. If you get 5 others, you keep them as you only risk your own, and each is redeemable for a tenner.

SE is usually quiet on a Friday, maybe 30 runners tops I believe. Plenty of cash action in the Fitz too on fridays (or any night). 100 would be slightly on the small side but wouldn't be an uncommon amount for people to sit with at the holdem only cash games. Omaha you would be advised to have more. There will be less cash action at the SE also, but there will be some.

The Fitz though is the only place you cannot get alcohol, it is even free in the SE.

It usually takes maybe 30-40 mins depending on trafic I would say. The earlier, the longer. If it is 7.30 or later you should be ok. Before it can be any length. Should set you back 25-30 euro I believe, but it is a while since I have paid for a taxi to the airport.

I have not commented on the Merrion, simply because I know nothing about it, as I usually go to the Fitz, and occasionally the SE.

    Enjoy the weekend.

Hi, I can only speak for the Fitz friday game; I'm not familar with the other two. The scalps game works as follows: Register for €60, and €10 of that includes a scalps chip. During the game, when a player goes all-in and doesn't intend to, or cant, rebuy, the scalp chip goes in the pot as well. If you knock out this player in this pot, you get the scalp chip. Every scalp chip you win in the game can be exchanged for €10 at the end of the night.

Note that there is also a €50 one-rebuy/top-up option as well. (the scalp chip goes in the pot when you are all-in for the last time). I haven't described this too well, but if you play the game it will become obvious.

This game generally gets 70-100 players, with an approx payout of 2400 for 1st, 1200 for 2nd, 600 for 3rd, etc. It will have the biggest turnout of all the games, and is one of the best of the week.

The Fitz also has the best selection of cash games, most of them being €50 min buy-in. The games at this level are PLHE or round-of-each PLHE/PLO. I think a €100 buy-in would be very tight here, but some of the regular cash game players could advise.

    Regarding taxis, I haven't a clue, sorry!

The taxi would only be €40 if he took a detour through Donabate, I got a taxi out to the airport from town a while ago and it was only about €20
