Chorus MMDS in a digital cable area?

Many of my neighbours have Chorus digital and I have noticed MMDS aerials on their houses however my nextdoor neighbour and a house 3 doors up have chorus digital but they have no aerial! (I can see their entire house from mine and there isnt one.) I live in Ballincollig in Cork on a chorus cabled street so I was surprised to see MMDS aerials at all. I rang chorus and asked if I got their digital package would it be provided by cable or MMDS and I was told it would be MMDS. This left me confused... How are my neighbours receiving it?(I asked them but just got the blank face response!). So now I'm wondering if in some regions they provide both digital cable and MMDS?

Note: Don't know if it makes a difference but they use the small silver Sagem set top box:digitalstbq.jpg

Chorus never fail to surprise me! You would think they would spend the money making sure they had one good system instead of two crappish systems!

Do you know if in Limerick you get a choice of which to use or is it just whatever the installer decides on the day?

same here where I live. All the old cable estates now have mmds aerials. They wont bother to upgrade the old cables. They are just taking the easy way out instead of providing a proper triple play system.

This worries me. When UPC merge Chorus with NTL they had better sort this out. Everyone (even sky!) know triple play is the way forward. I really hope the management re-shuffle helps sort some of this out.

Chorus decide when you order and tell them where you live. If I was getting Chorus in some parts of City (I'd die first). I'd go for Digital MMDS and Digiweb Metro (Wireless) for Phone and BB as there is people with cutters and hacksaws that like to cut the Cable TV cable. It's sort of strung arround houses and walls... Except I'd be unlucky and they would decide I have to have cable. They decide, not the Insatller or customer.

i work for chorus in cork the silver box is a digi cable box. in ballincollig you are better off with cable as with all the new buildings in ballincollig there could be problems in the future with reception aswell with cable you can have broadband whereas you cant with the mmds system its all the same channels and line up

The largest problem with reception in the future is Comreg wants to take the entire MMDS band back, which should never have been licenced at that frequency according to some.
