just got my leaving certificate results....

parents got a letter in the post this morning and it was my leaving certificate results......from 2001!!

i got my results at the time. anyone any clues as to why i get this letter five years later?

I am doing my leaving and i hope when the time comes for my results i will get them in time . Thats very wierd i think that you only got them recently

I assume because he no longer lives at home it was sent to his old address.

Sounds like that crazy ebay story on something awful where the guy sent off some nintendo game, buyer never got it. It returned to him out of the blue about 3 years later.

Even though I did well in my leaving 5 years ago I still have nightmares about the damn thing. I had one the other week about being stuck back in school on the first day of the year where you realised how much graft needed to be done. Scary.

well obviously they didnt have an address for him..hense they sent it to is 'home' address of the time..besides he could of still lived there!

Should they not have been posted to you and not your parents. Very weird, are you sure the results look legit, sounds very dodgy.

Why not give the department of education a call and see what they have to say, on sending out 4 year old results out in the post. It should be fun getting them to believe that your not pranking them.

What do you mean by 'actual certificate'? I only ever got the results I got the day in the school. Did my leaving in 93, so maybe they're a bit behind

you can get a partchment i think but i never got it. Besides there is no space on the wall of shame for it.

What date was the postmark?
Was the envlope stamped or franked?
Who owned the frank?

I suspect this isthe situation:

You just got your results CERTIFICATE, you already had your cheap dot matrix 80gsm results on green paper from years ago.

The CERTIFICATE was sent to schools by the dept of education (as it then was)
and the schools posted these out, in a hardbacked envelope if you went to a good school, or in a soft manilla envelope if you went to a cheap school possibly using the standard "To the parents of:" line that their label printers put before all addresses.

If is likely that your schools secretary mislaid the CERTIFICATE and it emerged a few days ago.

its dated feb 06 and came from port laoise so its not from my school and its posted recently. ill find out tonight if theres a cert at home. but even if this is my actual cert, what da funk happened it took this long?!

Yea that dosent sound right but did not woundern why before you didnt get it till know/ just asking

AFAIK all mail these days is cancelled (ie stamped) by one of 4 mails centres Dublin, Cork, Portlaoise and Athlone Mails Centres, and not by the originating post office.

Thus you mail was franked by "Portlaoise Mails Centre", and not just "Portlaoise".

Thus you mail was posted from that general region.

I'd imagine it's just someone at AnPost robbing your identity and claiming your LC results as their own. They probably have a masters degree by now and don't need that little bit of paper of yours to get that assistant manager job at McDonalds that they've always dreamt of.
