I heard that its morethan lightly that PJ will be playing later this year, rumours have that they could be playing at oxygen, but that seems too early, and I'd say they may have their own show?

Well it would be better than any act posted on this page of recent.

All the speculation seems to suggest there's gonna a Euro tour in late summer/early autumn, after an american tour and before australia.

A tour itinerary was recently 'leaked' for the US legs and European leg but i'm not believing it for one second. Things like playing eastern europe one night, then Germany the next night, then back to eastern europe again.
What really led me to disbelieve this was that they were to play Slane Castle on the last MONDAY of September!!!

However strong rumours are growing of festival appearences!

As i said in another post, I bet everything I own that they will tour Europe in the next 12 months (and I will be at multiple dates!!!!), but I expect them to release tour details after the new album is released (sometime in the spring, april/may'ish, they have been keeping us waiting for what seems like forever!!)

    That'd be cool.
Pleeeease make it NOT happen @ Oxygen or Slane or the RDS...
An indoor gig would be much better. Pleeease not the Point though.

Imagine lads, 'Pearl Jam plays the Ambassador'. Now that'd be awesome!!

Thats wishful thinking. I'd much prefer see them open air during the Summer at oxygen instead of the point.

It doesn't matter to me where they play as long as they play.
Plus I intend doing a bit of travelling around and catching a few other shows too, providing I have the cash!!!

Maybe they might play in McHale Park, or even better, my back garden :D
    *goes back to dreaming*

But anywhere will do for me!

How amazing would it be if they did play. I'd be so happy.

I'd love to see them in the Ambassador as well, but most likely, tickets would cost One Million Euros each...!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 88 ✭✭Hitch-Hiker

There's a million an one rumours flyin around. The new album is meant to be out for April/May, and apparently the biggest tour since Ten will follow. Nothings concrete yet though. Tour date speculation for Europe is centering around September - November. I think it's safe to assume they're not gonna be playing any festivals. Even if they did go back to doing festivals (which is still highly unikely IMO) I doubt they'd start back in Europe, for obvious reasons.

Again I doubt it with the cost. Pearl Jam, although they didn't win their ticketmaster battle, have always tried to keep their prices as respectable as possible. (thank you tenClub) Well according to yankee friends who've been to a million shows over the years this is true anyway.
Besides even if they were a ridiculous price It'd be worth it for this band.

Sounds good overall. Would much prefer to see them at their own gig than at any sort of festival.

Yeah, I don't think they'd charge to highly. But ya knwo, it'd sell out, and you'd have those fcukers sellin' them at triple the rrp...!!

I'd definitely pay through the teeth either way though.

Tenclub has pre-sale tix, and the best seats :D

Are they releasing this album independently, or have they resigned with a record label?

...I heard their last contract was up after the release of Riot Act.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 88 ✭✭Hitch-Hiker

The contract was indeed finished. They're on J records now, which I think is actually another subsidiary of Sony, so there hasn't been that much change. I think the Beanaroya concert album is on J records.

that would be mighty class. they would be a very big pull for oxegen.id prefer if they had their own gig unless they got a massive time slot at oxegen

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 4,436 Mod ✭✭✭✭Suaimhneach

    Okay, found tenclub.

Definitely I've been to the site before, but dont ever remember joining/hearing about presale, or best tix or anything....

    [edit]

Never mind, figured it out. I guess its totally worth it, but I don't have a credit card, so no luck. But nice site either way.

    [/edit]

Find someone with a credit card!!!
$25 and you get two newsletters (soon to become a glossy magazine) per year, and a special single on vinyl, and If they hapen to be playing near you the best seats in the house. Not too shabby. Pearl Jam look after their fans. Anyway, back to speculation about the gig. My money is on September in the point.

    Im there!
But if anything it might be at electric picnic, as theyre releasing the album in the middle of the summer (i hear) and theyd probly do some american dates first. I dont know if they suit the lineup of the picnic. But id rather see them at that than oxegen.

Yeah, I want Pearl Jam all to myself. None of this festival stuff.

Last time they played there was plenty of time to get tickets so if you're not in tenclub (I'm not) I wouldn't worry too much.

    Fudge Me Pink,
PJ ARE APPARENTLY CONFIRMED FOR THE LEEDS FESTIVAL (the sister of Reading)

Now, it aint 100 percent or anything, well I aint gonna believe anything until official confirmation comes from the band or 10C but NME has said they are definate and they are supposed to have a proven track record for naming each years artists. Its even up on the Leeds Festival website.

As I said though I aint believing anything until I get official first party confirmation.

Would be nuts if they headlined!!

But I wanna see them at their own concert, with them opening for themselves ala Boston 3 '03 or the Gorge!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 88 ✭✭Hitch-Hiker

Ok, here's what happens every year for all festivals. The organisers have a list of acts who they ASK to play, and they take whoever agrees. Until it's up on tenclub.net it's safe to asssume it's complete bull****. Especially if it's a festival date.

i hope to christ they dont play oxegen. not only would it be better if they were on their own but im gonna be away for oxegen so i dont wanna miss out

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 464 ✭✭redmosquito

    Until it's up on tenclub.net

We could be waiting a very long time so!! Generally they are the very last for news, theskyiscrape.com or other sites have had all the recent news up far quicker, even rollingstone had news up way quicker than the official site.

That site really needs to be changed too, apart from the title music its been exactly the same for years, it still even has a link to synergy on the sony site!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 88 ✭✭Hitch-Hiker

It's slow because they wait for confirmation from the band and record company, and that makes them the most reliable. And it doesn't really matter if they announce it later because they'll be the first to sell any tickets regardless. and I wouldn't trust theskyiscrape for a second. that place is worse for rumours than anywhere else.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 464 ✭✭redmosquito

Theskyiscrape only puts up confirmed news and if there is anything unconfirmed they let you know that it is only speculation.

The Red Mosquito forum has a lot of rumours going around it, sure, but its still the best PJ forum around, and is the absolute best for trading.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 464 ✭✭redmosquito

I don't think there's many PJ hardcore fans out there, usually any thread regarding Pearl Jam dissapears shortly after a few posts!!

The lack of anymore official news regarding the album and tour is killing me, I think its come to the stage where people are making up news and some others are believing the news just to be satisfied!!!!

It is fairly hard to find out when the new album is coming out. I have been seraching for the past 6 months and turning up various dates... apparently April/May 06 is the best guess so far.

Hope PJ do tour Europe. Last time I saw them in Salzburg I was squashed up against the barrier at the front with people flying over my head during such classics as Rear View Mirror, Alive, Rocking in the Free World, etc. Some buzz.

Well it hasn't been announced to anyone yet. The good money is on May, with the first single (Worldwide Suicide) comig out in March. Like I said though. Nothing's confirmed yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,100 ✭✭✭muckwarrior

Jesus, hard to believe that it's been SIX long years since PJ played here last. Can't wait to see them again. Although same can't be said about the new album. Not getting my hopes up after a decidedly averge binaural and a decidedly sh1te Riot Act. Still fυckin awesome live though!

Apparently 'Worldwide Suicide' has been played on a couple of radio stations in the States, and afaik a number of songs were played to journalists in Spain by Sony/BMG and a review has been posted on the net.

May 2nd is the rumour date now floating around everywhere so my money is defo on it being released in that month.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,875 ✭✭✭Seraphina

man. six long ****ing years. i was hoping they'd play in 2004 considering the other gigs had been 92, 96 and 2000, however the pattern didn't hold! :(

at least i wont be ****ting myself about being underage now! twas my first proper gig at 15, and i was thrown in the deep end after getting seperated from my friends and lost among the sea of hairy 20somethings.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,685 ✭✭✭Tom65

I had a thought. If, and I'm aware that's a big if, Pearl Jam were to play Reading, perhaps they'd do what the Pixies did last year and play Bud Rising? Assuming that that's going ahead this year.

According to the Message Pit (Kat and Sea), Tim from the 10C will have big news for us in the next week or two, probably about the new album and a tour (or maybe something about World Wide Suicide which will be the first single).

Speaking of World Wide Suicide, radio stations all across the U.S are playin 15-20 second teasers of the song, the chorus, and after hearing it I can say that I like what I hear, a lot harder than most other the last few releases, Eddies voice is very aggresive too!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 464 ✭✭redmosquito

Am I allowed post a link to the World Wide Suicide teaser from the radio????

The 10 seconds of WWS sounds pretty good. Kinda Vitalogy -ish, still kind of early to tell though. Roll on March 8th!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 88 ✭✭Hitch-Hiker

New album (currently untitled) is also tabbed for a May 2nd release, in case anyone was wondering. Still unofficial, butthis is what is being circulating around the radio stations stateside.

Also, there are rumours that the album will be self-titled, i cant see that being the case but who knows what will happen (well we will find out very shortly!!!!!)

If anyone wants the link for WWS then either look around, it aint that hard to find or else pm me. Its very short but gives an idea!

    Neeeever gonna happen.

Let me have my dream :(

WWS sounds pretty good, though I really can't judge a song (let alone an album on 15 seconds). It remind me of Last Exit quite a bit. I'm cool with an album along the lines of Vitalogy :D

    I'll definately second that!!!
Having heard 3 potential songs for the album, all I can say is im mightily impressed.

What would round the album off though is if they put 'Last Soldier' on it.
Fair enough its from the Riot act era (Played twice in 2001, the only other time being 2004) but it wouldn't be the first time they played a song live and it wasn't on the next record but the record after that e.g 'Brain of J'.

    Last Soldier ****ing rules!!!

    row1.jpg

The date, 14th March, is doing the rounds now at every radio station as the official release date of the single (after the availability to download).

If this is ths single artwork or what it is, is not clear at the minute!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 88 ✭✭Hitch-Hiker

I was in HMV today and the girl there told me they still didn't have a date for the release. Kinda cool though - she was a big fan herself. She knew right away without having to check the computer. It's nice to run into other fans coz they are rare enough over here.

Yeah, there's a good bit of variation between 'Crapshoot', 'Gone' and 'WWS'. Though, aside from Gone, those are terrible titles.

Hitch-Hiker, I think the thing about PJ fans over here is that there is a lot of them, but they're hard to find.

Worldwide Suicide was just played on WTTS in Indeanapolis. apparently the DJ is getting ****in beat down for it (proverbially of course) as it's not meant to be out until March 8th. God I hope someone recorded it. See the Pearl Jam Message Pit for the thread(s)

Got my "Christmas" Single today :D It sounds brilliant. I loved 'Gone' since I first heard it, but wasn't a fan of 'Little Sister'. However, both sound much better on the record.
