Recommend a simple system benchmarking tool

Can anyone recommend a simple benchmarking tool , preferably freeware , that you could use on a pc prior to making any changes (software or hardware) and just get a simple score/mark so that after you make your changes you get another score , similiar in the way they do on that site pcpitstop ?

Most benchmarking tools present their marks in a manner that isn't joe soap friendly and seem to only focus on a component at a time.

    Thanks.

SiSoft Sandra is probably the most common general system benchmark. They have a couple of different versions with different feature levels, I think the lite version is free.

Tbh I wouldnt say sisoft is a simple piece of software. Go for SuperPI which just basically calculates pi as quick as possible up to certain amount. Its freeware also but will probably only be of use for testing your cpu.
