Working unsocial hours

My brother used to work for a fast food place and when the staff had to work til 2am the company gave them the option of getting a taxi home at company expense because of the hour they finished work.
He has recently started a different job but the hours are somewhat similar (some 12 hour shifts 2pm-2am). Is he entitled to the same offer that he got in his old job from his new employer?

If he lives within Dublin or the same county yes he is entitled to it.

He lives just outside Dublin in Dunshaughlin(Co. Meath). He lived there when he work in the fast food place as well as now.

    You sure kdjac?

I very much doubt this is in employment law, and will only be at the discretion of individual companies depending on their contract with the employee.

Also, perhaps some Unions will insist that staff are provided with their taxi fare home when there are no other means of safe transport.

You'll have to check in specific cases though.

I'm fairly sure its up to the company. My brother works until 4 or 5am and gets no transport home.
