As far as I know Beekay, it's like Reading/Leeds or V Chelmsford/the other place they have it (long day:o )........ the same festival held in two cities over the same weekend, with the acts playing the different cities on different days...

Its a pretty good festival, and much cheaper than Ireland/UK too.
I have been to Rock im Park a couple of times and should be going this year too :D

    Hopefully!

Same acts at both but on different days. Vast difference between the two venues though (I've been to am Ring and not im Park).

Rock am Ring is at the Nuerenbuerg Ring (racing track) and takes place in the centre part of the circuit. The main stage (when I was there at least) is on a large flat tarmac surface behind the grandstand, so basicly the area where all the Formula 1 teams would park their equipment on race weekend. Camping is in the fields around the track. Campsite seemed to go on for ever and ever, it's in the middle of nowhere pretty much and people could park their cars beside their tents. Very good athmosphere about the place though it did take 30 minutes of a walk for us to get from tent to venue (our own fault for arriving on the afternoon that the festival started).

Rock im Park is in a football stadium (main stage is at least) and held in Nuernburg (different place altogether) which is a city and so will be easier to get to. Also it seems to be on a parkside area with a lake which is something the other venue doesn't have - I don't know what that adds or takes away from the experience, maybe darkmaster2 can help.

Depending on what kind of lineup you like there's plenty of other festivals to look at too. Don't think you need to rush your decision - they don't usually book things out as fast in Germany.
