    Hi guys,
Whats the best way to get from Hueston to RDS with a 2 year old and her buggy via public transport.

I'm thinking Luas to Abbey and Number 7 from D'olier Street.

Any better suggestions? Travelling Saturday Morning.

    Thanks

nope, that is as straight forward as can be - however the Luas will be packed going into town

You could also try LUAS to Connolly, DART to Sandymount. It might be quicker, depending on the connections. The walk from the LUAS to the DART would be approx what the walk is between Abbey Street and D'Olier Street. And you'd have about a 5 minute walk at the Sandymount end.

Bus route 92 from Heuston to Nassau St and Route 45 or 84 from Nassau St to RDS. Those routes are accessable so you can leave the child in the buggy and wheel it on the bus, route 7 is not.

You can get the 7 from O'Connell Street. If you're thinking of gettind the bus rather than the DART, you might be better taking the 45, which runs disabled buses, might be handier than getting up the steps :)

Avoid Luas completely its a disaster most of the time its just way too busy

    Taking account of the buggy

Get the 92 get off at Trinity College (No 1 Grafton Street)
Then get either the 7, 7A, 8 or 45 (next bus stop about 30 yards from the 92 stop)

The 92 and 45 are low floor accessible buses with a ramp

You could get a Luas to Connolly and get the DART but there is a lot of walking and stairs and ramps involved, on the upside you can get a ticket from Cork/Limerick/etc (any station really) to Sandymount and that is valid on the 90/91/92 and Luas saving a lot of hassle

The all in one ticket sounds best.

Number 92, to Nassau St , very narrow footpaths at the stops though along there,so thats out

Sure at that time of the morning, the 2 year old will love the walk from sandymount.

The 92 stop you would want is just up from TCD, you get off head towards Grafton Street and its only 20-30 yards to the bus stop

I'm assuming you are coming into Heuston by rail. The ticket staff can be awkward about it but it is very possible to get a single or return from any station to any other, the only tiny thing to know is Sandymount is number 188, its always best to confirm its valid on Luas and Bus when asking by default it is

The ticket is valid on the 90/91/92 and Luas so you are free to choose which way

The luas ticket machines can't issue a joint luas/rail single or return. Iarnrod Eireann automated machines on route out of Heuston can't issue a ticket to a station on routes out of Connolly (they are being awkward) but the ticket office and on train checkers can

They've been widened in the last two years and won't be that busy on Saturday morning.

Sandymount Station is much closer to the RDS than Sandymount.

Folks what about the return journey? DART to Tara Street and bus 90? Or anybus to Westmoreland Street and then 90/92?

Actually that could be a bit mad with the stairs in Sandymount.

None of the inbound buses stop in Westmoreland St.

The 45 would be best as it is low-floor and it terminates on CornExchange Place at Burgh Quay. A two-minute walk to the 90/92 stop on Aston Quay.

The 7 stops outside the GPO on O'connell St.

There is now an entrance on the RDS side of Sandymount station. It's not completed, but it should be possible to clear it with the guy in the office to enter from that side with a pram.

Most of the 45s I see don't have low floors and still have the post in the middle of the entry. I have beed refused entry a number of times on them with a pram or buggy.

Depending on what time you're travelling on Saturday Morning, the Luas can be very full so I would recommend the No.92 bus. As mentioned above, this bus will take you to Lr. Grafton Street (as it come around the bend at Trinity College). Get off at this stop. This same stop is also served by the 45 and 84 buses, both these routes are low floor buses and should allow you wheel your buggy on board providing the space has not been occupied by a wheelchair or another buggy. The Saturday timetable for the 45 is about every 20/25 min and every 90 min. for the 84. The 92 is also every every 20 minutes.

Outbound is the main worry, inbound should be easy enuf, as in any bus to near the Green and shopping. woman are easy to please, that way.

    Here's the plan:
Luas or 90 to Hueston: DART to Sandymount, Quick walk to the RDS, it's the building on the Merrion Road side of the RDS.

Back in: 45 to town. Stroll on to the luas and back hueston.
Buggy can be folded, the wee one will be too busy looking out the windows.
    Thanks All.
