I bought this game when it came out but got so frustrated with the crappy Server browser that i just gave up.
Heading to gamecon soon so wanna try brush up a bit so i can have a few rounds there :).
I installed it yesterday and all went well, i then went into the online mode and retrieved my account, it took about 4-5min to log in  ? Then when it finally did log in it just started connecting me to some random server?
Now every time i go to play i have to wait 4-5min for the bloody thing to log in, and it then connect me to some random server :(.
    Whats the story here?

    Cheers for any help.

When you run BF2 you're using the "Play Now" button which logs you into a random server.

Delete the shortcut and just use the 'normal' BF2 icon.

ayou clicking the 'play now' option when you pop the cd in? It automatically tries to connect you to the closest server with free slots. Just click the bf2 icon on your desktop assuming you made a shortcut, itll boot up the game without connecting to a server automatically
