Same team announced for Saturday. How can he stay looking at Tommy Bowe.

Is he the worst international in the past 10 years?

No. He plays well in 5 games and has a bad day and all of a sudden he is the worst international in 10 years.

Ho Hum will Eddie ever surprise us.

Anthony Horgan is probably worse than T.Bone, at least he can run like a winger, its just that he has problems catching and grounding the ball

I think its all part of a cunnign plan to lull the french (back) into a false sense of security. There'll be a rash of late "injuries" wait and see.

Or maybe its just wishful thinking

First of all, 5 good games? What games have you been watching?

In answer to above comment? Horgan not international either but as a 6 nations standard i should have mentioned.

Its a joke that EOS has made no changes to the team - he has to go in my opinion.

I second that. I reckon we're in for a hammering on Saturday.

Could Andy Trimble play on the wing? Hickie isn't fully fit, Whats the alternatives?

    O'Sullivan out.
Cheika in. (But not until Leinster win the HC this year beating Munster in lansdowne on the way)

Hickie played in the CL since, has 3/4 games under his belt AND he knows where the ground is :D

The sooner we get Malcome O'Kelly out the better. O'Callaghan is the better player.
Granted O'kelly has a wealth of experience but I feel that O'Callaghan has the better ability and egerness on the pitch. One thing you do notice is that in every game O'Callaghan plays he gives 110%. He has much more aggression than O'Kelly and its time he got his chance to cement his Irish partnership with O'Connell.
Also at some stage Jamie Heslip and Robert Kearney should be brough into the six nations matches. Obviously not against England or France but mabey Wales or Scotland.

team should be same with Wallace at eight and Gleeson at 7. Then you'd change Hickie for Bowe(international, my arse) and you're sorted.

I can't believe Gleeson and Heaslip didn't get a look in.

    What are you thinking EOS?

EOS is probably thinking something like ..."Well I've spent all my time and energy entrenching my position as Irelands head coach, so much so it'll cost the IRFU nearly a cool mill to get rid of me ...I finally have time to consult my trainers manual to determine a strategy against the French" ;)

The argument over who should play on the wing is like arranging deck chairs on the titantic.
If the lads don't get it right in the top two inches, Paris will be a massacre. And to be honest with you I'm not holding out much hope.
I can't see EOS helping out much in that department. He's more likely to drive the players to clinical depression than psyche them up.

I'd like to see D'Arcy at full back, Trimble coming in at center and Murphy going on the wing. Wallace should be at 6, with Gleeson coming in at 7. I also agree that O'Callaghan should be in the side. He is a lot more aggressive than O'Kelly but he does have a tendency to give away silly penalties.

I think that's the team that alot of people would like to see. Who would you have at number 8? Heaslip? I'd go for Foley on this one. The forwards have looked very timid since his absense. He brings a great deal of leadership and experience to the pack. And if you're looking for a man who knows how to go to France and win, look no further.

Haven't seen a lot of Heaslip to be honest. Foley has been in great form this season and should be at least included in the 22.

I think Eddie should have gone at the end of last season. We're SO predictable and have had the same game plan and players for years.

He's turned his nose up at several oppertunitys to blood new players which is why we are having this conversation...no squad depth. I think only now has his conservatisim is SLIGHTLY loosend up, but it's too late. This 6N and next years one should be used to build for the world cup with a new coach.

He was a good coach and did well for the most part, but his time is up, no fresh ideas and not much left to offer. Should have a new coach this year.

As far as bowe is concerned, I'm glad to see a few new faces getting games and seeing what we actually have in our squad. Bowe is a good player who had a bad game against Italy. Personaly I think he should be dropped for the France game and replaced by Rob Kearney, just to give most promising young players a chance against top opposition to best gage the talent available to us. (as i said, building for WC)

I agree Hickie needs to get back to old form and fitness before he can be considerd, and his pace is not what it once was. Having said that, he is solid and reliable.

Leamy cleared of stamping in game against Italy.

    Story here.

Kearney is out with a back injury.

So the exact same team again? or will he play foley at 8?
I personally think that foley is more solid and experienced but is a bit of a step backwards. Leamy really isn't a No. 8 but it's better to have him in and getting some experience for the future so that if Heaslip ever does break into the first XV then Leamy will be good cover for him.

I don't think Foley's even on the bench (or that there's any out and out number 8 in the whole team), so it looks like Leamy all the way.

Replacements: Bruno, Marconnet, Nallet, Martin, Yachvili, Boyet, Valbon.

how much experience does dominici have at fullback?

I was sure that he had about 5 years worth at Francaise but I spotted this headline in a French newspaper which suggests that the move is surprising for others :

Six Nations: retour de Magne, Dominici à l'arrière ?

The return of Magne, Dominicin at fullback?

I dont care ROG better make touch evertime caus he is a dangerous counter attacker

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 550 ✭✭✭Teg Veece

Dominici has an incredible record against Ireland. I wouldn't be surprised if someone told me that he's gotten a try in over half the matches he's played against us. Nukem's dead right. If O'Gara doesn't find touch, Ireland will be made pay.
