Just wondering if there is an app available that can combine, say a film that is in 2 parts into one whole?

Virtualdub will let you join more than one AVI file together. However, they will have to have the exact same framerate or it won't work. If both parts were encoded seperately then they may or may not have the same framerate.

Open virtualdub, open an AVI file. Then under the File menu you choose "Append AVI segment" to add the 2nd file. Under the Video menu choose "Direct stream copy" so as not to re-encode the whole video.

Sweet, will that work for other file types also, ie xvid mpeg etc?

You can use the unix utility "cat" to join two mpeg files (also available in windows).

    cat file1.mpg file2.mpg > joined.mpg

Using a Windows Based system, i wouldnt really recommend VDub.

Its slow & restrictive in comparision to the superior (IMO) and simpler interface of AVImuxGUI ;)
