Took advantage this morning (was trading in anyway)

Got rid of Gun and Kameo and picked up Need For Speed and NBA Live

here keyser, any tips on how to improve my game a bit, I'm winning by a hefty margin on rookie everytime, but I only seem to be scoring from fast breaks, and my defence just stinks, every time the computer has the ball it's waltzing straight through

Simulated a season last night to see how many games it was, ended up getting 600 gamerscore points in 2 minutes, not complaining but it's a bit cheap all the same, would have rather earned em

TBH, playing on Live & playing against the AI is completely different.

Put your difficulty level up to all-star as that's what you'll be playing against online.

Pick a team, and stick to them. Get to know all of your players & their strenghts. If you don't know any of them, I'll help you out.

The starting 5 provided isn't always the best line up either, I think its the starting 5 in real life.

Use the LB to pass to any player using X,Y,A or B, but be careful not to pass cross court coz most of them get intrecepted.

The RB can be good for alley-oops, not when there's a person in front of the recipient though.

Try and judge your opponent's type of play asap. If he likes to shoot then try a 3-2 zone. If he likes to drive then pick a 2-3 zone. If he's driving, then kicking it out pick a half court man to man. If its late in the game and your down, do a full court press so you can foul staright away to stop the clock.

Also on defence, recognise his best players. After the first quarter, put the defensive pressure on them to high as this will slow them down and allow you to help.

You can also try intercept the ball when he's inbounding it after you've just scored. I usually get about 10-20 points from this alone.

On offense, try and use a few of the plays provided by pressing the D-pad. The left,up & down are for individual plays whereas the right operates plays for the whole team.

If you see a player who can shoot is wide open, pass it to him as 75% of the time he'll score.

Try tapping the shoot button once for a headfake as this will get catch your online opponent out a few times in the game, especially if its a player that was wide open.

Don't try and steal the ball in play as most of the time, you'll get beat and then they'll score.

Try not to pass the ball the lenght of the court as it will probably not make it and go out of bounds.

Most teams will have at least one really good dunker, find out and drive with him, if he can dribble that is.

If you see an opponent driving to the basket, stand in front of him and use the right joystick to put your hands up. It will put him 90% of the time.

When on the fast break use the spin move to go faster. For some reason the people at EA think you can travel quicker by spinning rather than running straight :rolleyes:

Get practicing those free throws too, they can be pretty tricky to get used to.

Try and use the baseline view too as I find its the best view for knowing exactly where your players are on the court.

I'll try get a few games in with you later and you'll see how I play.

I caught on to steals from inbounds fairly quickly, Got a few points from it, I kept trying to steal from open play (major no no it seems) kept either fouling the guy, or he just got by me

Just getting the hang of the free throws, their tricky alright

I've been using the sideline view, I'll try the other one tho

I set up an All Star team with the 76ers, Garnett, James, Kobe, Shaq and Allen Iversen, unbeatable!

That's great that you set up that all star team but when you go to play online you'll have to download a roster update which will eradicate that so my adive to you is to get used to one of the actual 30 teams.

The best teams are Miami, Detroit, Dallas, San Antonio (my team) and Houston.
