if there mp3 they wont get much smaller if zipped.
if you right click on a file (or a couple of files highlighted) and click send to > compressed folder it should make a .zip folder of the files

If you're on WinXP you can generally just select the files you want, right click -> Send To -> Compressed Folder and it will create your zip file.

    download WinRAR from rarsoft.com

If they are mp3 files then you won't be able to compress them any more than they already are. Get Winzip or Winrar anyway, or 7-zip is also one I've seen recommended.

Also, the max attachment size on gmail is 10MB, which will be only about 3 songs, I guess that's why you hoped to compress them more.

Simplest option would be to get an external CD writer or zip drive and use that on the work PC.

Winzip has a nicer interface than winrar IMO. It also has a wizard to guide you through the zipping process (though I must admit I've never used the wizard).

If you need the best compression level, download 7zip from 7-zip.org.

Zipping is fairly straightforward. You create an "archive" (zip) file. This compresses all your files and stores them in the archive. You then email them etc. as you see fit and uncompress the files out of the archive when you want to use them. It's coneceptually similar to squashing all your clothes into a suitcase when you're going on holiday, then taking them out when you need them.

you could use the likes of rapidshare.de or megaupload.com but if you need more than 1 file they can be a pain in the ass. Solution: zip em into one big zip :) I think rapidshare allows up to 100MB per file now
