A few questions about Bf2 ?

Ok even though I have had BF2 for nearly a month.. There is still alot of things I dont really get or understand ! So any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. About mics.. Since I have got the game I have not heard one person on a mic ? Do you have to be in a squad to hear your other squad members or is everybody using teamspeak or some sort of program ?

2. Unlocks ? How do you find out when you can unlock a new weapon ? Will it tell you automatically or do you got to do it yourself ?

3. Can you change your name ? (i don't think so)

4. Does using a joystick help alot when flying planes and helicopters ?(helicopters I can basically fly using my keyboard buts find it difficult to land)

5. Anytips for improving game performance ? I have to play it on all low video settings or it will crash after like a hour My specs meet the reccomended requirements !

I might have some more questions about the game I just can't think of anymore I would like to know at the moment !

You need to setup VOIP or use www.teamspeak.net an external program.

What is Voice over IP?
DICE has implemented Voice over IP in the game, so there's no need for third party software for communications anymore. The Voice com follows the chain of command: Squad leaders can communicate with other squad leaders and with the commander. The average grunt will only hear his own squad.

In the BFHQ (in game) it will pop up when you have one.

NO (there is a way but leave it as no)

I use a PS2 pad some use KB some use proepr flight sticks, users choice.

New drivers, kill all internet eating programs mainly firefox and IE, get more ram, post your specs for detailed answers.

There's a quick way to land helicopters. Basically go to where ever you want the land and just before you reach the area tip the nose of the helicopter up. This will stop you mid air, just make sure to level off or you'll start to fly backwards.

Then all you have to do is practice lowering the helicopter speed and tipping the nose up, at the right time so you have a pretty quick landing.

That's really for a more accurate landing.

You could just fly really really low to the ground and slow down.

I hope your using your mouse too to fly the helicopters.

K how do you use a ps2 pad lol ?

Em my specs are:

Pentium 4 2.8 ghz
1 gig pc 2100
Geforce 6200 256mb

I have all other programs off when playing the game !

No I dont use the mouse ? Does it make it easier lol ?

Also is there any good "irish" servers to play on ?

The mouse controls the angle your flying the plain at. Move the mouse downwards and your helicopter dips downwards, have it at the right angel and you'll fly faster and maintain altitude.

With a combination of mouse and key buttons it enables you to take sharper turns and also tilt your helicopter to make it easier for gunners to see enemies.

Its agp.. Funny I just bought the thing like a week before I got BF2 !

Once I get a job after I finish school 1st thing ill be saving up for is a new pc so mostly likely ill be waiting till then... Im very poor.. haha:D

I use the keyboard and mouse for the chopper. Works a beaut. Just takes some getting used to.

Seriously, they REALLY improve the flyin experience.
The Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is only 45 quid and tis a LEGEND of a joystick

Also, you can change your name, you can add CLAN tags to it, up to 5 characters or something i think

i have the same joystick, i bought it FOR bf2....nuff said.

however one of the best pilots in the game (search around top50 aviators) [Fragsync] Kamih uses a mouse to fly......

Not wanting to blow my own horn, but I'm a very good chopper pilot and I use the mouse & keyboard - default controls, except I've the direction inverted for up&down

yep. if you can dodge bullets that is though you can go on servers with 1 or 2 people and learn the maps before playing for real

don't use teamspeak etc. but i'd say their website has a fairly nifty tutorial

I'm also going to ask a stupid question, probably very stupid, but when I see medics or support running around I hear them shouting "medic here..ammo here blah blah"....but err...how? what button do I press to do the same when I'm a medic, because I find myself legging it after a lad whose health is almost gone who doesn't see or hear me...and getting shot myself.

Ventrillo is a Voice comms program, so is TS ???!!???

it never ceases to amaze me how many injured will run away from a medic , maybe they think your a dentist or something . Same with ammo , you have to pratically take the bullets out of the ammo box , load them into their ammo belts , put one clip in the gun for them , take off the safety and aim it for them .

Hold down "T", then move your mouse just a bit to the right. I'll write a tutorial for you if you have problem

Go Commander, right click the squad in question and you have a selection of different things you can say to them...
