Call of duty 2, broken disc

    My call of duty 2 disc is cracked in the centre, the game still works but I was gonna chance my arm and send it back to get a new just in case I want to sell it a later stage. (I can't find my receipt either).

    What do you think my chances are of getting a new one from Activision??

    Also, has anyone ever done this?

    my cod 2 disk also cracked around it's centre ( 4 cracks ) it was playable for a week or so then it was not so i took it back to smyths and got a replacment game.

    don't know about your chances of getting one from activision , have you tried taking it back to the shop you bought it from ?.

    i know you said you don't have the receipt but they might replace it for you .

    I can't find the receipt but even if I had it a friend bought it for me when he was in HMV, ie. 30% off and he doesn't work there anymore so I'm screwed basically :p


    So I think my only option is to send it off to them. :(

    This happened me with Half-Life on the PS2 years ago. Can't remember who the developers were but they sent me a copy no bother. Don't think a receipt is required, just your broken disc so that they know you had purchased a copy.

    If you think you need a receipt though, go back to the shop you bought it in. Alot of shops hold receipts on online databases (for return purposes) and can print out copies.

    afaik under consumer law you don't need a receipt if you're returning faulty goods.

    You do need some proof of purchase. For GAME that's a receipt or a reward card used for the transaction.

    Oasis.gov.ie linkage - scroll down to "if things go wrong".

    yea ive seen review on it before.. theres a way u can drill a hole to stop a crack spreading but yet still the disk will work.... ask over in the computers forum!

    Got this game @ launch and it cracked in the centre today!
    Are they faulty? Have I any rights?

    I just called Activision Customer Support on 00448702412148.

    It said if you have a broken disc within 30 days to bring it back to the shop you bought it off.

    If you have broken disc between 1 & 3 months you've to forward it to them and they'll send a replacement with a receipt.

    If you have a broken disc between 4 & 12 months you've send £10 sterling for P&P or something else, didn't listen all that well to that bit with a recipt.

    So basically my situation is this, the 360 came out 2 months ago which effectively puts me in the 2nd situation so I'm going to send it off to get a new one and see how it goes. I'll report back to you on how I get on.

    my replacment cod2 disk that i got from cd-wow no more than two weeks ago has now got two cracks in it around the centre :eek:

    i think i might try and get another game from them as this is the second time that this has happened:mad:

    i got smack down here comes the pain for ps2 in xtravision when it 1st came out in the 1st week it got scratched and tried to leave it back but they said they would not take it they just keept saying maybe if you had your reciept so would doubt that you will get a new game unless alot of people are been hatled by this game getting cracked in the middle

    just got an e-mail back from cd-wow and they will give me a refund once they recive the game back , so i think i will order Ghost Recon AW instead of another copy of cod 2 .

    WarZoneBrother : i'm hearing alot of people are having this problem with cod2 , and it has happened to me twice

    smyths replaced it with a new game ( i had the receipt ) and cd-wow are giving me a refund ( i have order number ) so i'm happy enough with that .

    it's a shame as cod 2 is a great game and if i pick it up again i will swap it's box , as i think it's getting damaged by taking it out and putting it back into it's box .

    I was playing NFS:MW last night and when I took the disc out of my 360 there was about an inch of a crack running from the centre out! :(

    I've spent a ridiculous amount of time wrestling with EA's online support system:mad: trying to log a query and after many atempts I got a response saying they'll be in touch in the next 24 hours about it.

    I'll let ye know how I get on with them.

    Well I got a resonse from my inquiry, EA would like me to pay them €20 so they can replace there defective product :mad: I'm more than a little bit annoyed and insulted as they are trying to blame the 360 for damaging the disc even though it hasn't damaged any others!!! :mad:

    If anyone has an irish support contact number for EA, I would be grateful if they could PM it to me as EA don't seem to post one on there web site :mad: and I won't be able to get at my game manual until this evening when I get home and I would really like to talk to an EA rep about this now :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

    EA Sent me a "customer satisfaction survey" to complete, it got completed alright, completed good:mad: As far as there concerned the issue is closed!!! :mad: I want them to fall down a well and die And just in case you work for EA and your offended by this, I DON'T CARE!!!

    x-box 360 games are expensive enough without having to pay to replace a faulty Disk!!! :mad: It will take the greatest game of all time ever to persuade me to purchase another EA Game, nothing less! :mad: The saddest part of all about this is that all it would take for EA to resolve this is the price of sending me a new disc to replace there faulty product instead they want me to go around posting about how badly they treat there customers and how much I want them to fall down a well and die

    That's pretty **** dude, I'd try getting onto a supervisor or something in EA. You could even try one of the bigger gamer site's and see if they've anything to say on the matter.

    I've only really ever bought sports games off them in my gaming time but if they were to re-release desert strike again they'd be my heroes!!!!:D

    glad to see your getting a replacement and your not getting charged.

    got a refund from cd-wow myself + they gave me a €7 e-voucher to cover the postage , so i ordered Ghost Recon : AW for €49 :D
