Hi guys, I'm new here to Ireland so I have no clue where to turn...

If you guys think this is the totally wrong place please direct me to another place if you know any. :o

I'm looking for people to model for some photos when I get my new camera equipment.

There would be no pay for this, however I might be able to help out if they need money for getting here if I can't come where they are. Most likely this would be done on weekends.
    I'm located in Cork btw.

I'm not a professional photographer, however I do know what I'm doing and I'm improving with every day.

The model(s) would get the ownership of the pictures but I want to retain the right to display them in my portfolio/gallery.

Let me know if you know of any people that would be willing or if you yourself want to do it.

You can contact me on tfredriksson@mac.com or on 087-9000416.

    Cheers :)

To the OP, try googling "irish models & photographers forum" and see how you get on :)

i often get random people asking me to do some portarit shots for them. if you have a decent online portfolio and people see it enough, they'll come to you.

or, what one photographer i know often does,he goes up to people in the street and asks them if he can do a shoot with them. he doesn't charge, they get copies of the shots, and he agrees not to sell them.

and yes, photography is a good way of meeting hot girls (i'm not complaining though)

hehe the thing is I need to build up a portfolio again
I'm not that happy with my current ones...

    Thanks Sarsfield and smcelhinney.

Yeah I've thought about talking to people directly in the street, it just never feels right doing it that way, even though I did it once and was quite happy with the result. But I guess thats because I'm more used to visiting sites and being able to see how the models have done before.

And to some people here, I'm not interested if the model is a male or female.

haha, no you wouldn't have to. And I'd prefer if you didn't because its easier to show the pictures if the model isn't naked usually.

I think nude pictures result in people focusing more on the naked part of the picture than on the actual picture itself.

    slightly off topic.

ethically, can one take some people pics on the street and hv them published without their permission? it might not be practical to ask every single person every time you wanna take a shot, isn't it?

p/s : nomad, drop me a msg whenever u need a model in dublin. i can be pretty stime. ahaha.

you can take pictures of people and publish them in an editorial context (as part of a news story) once you aren't overly invading their privacy (shooting through their bedroom window etc) though I'm not sure what Irish privacy laws are like

shooting somebody, not asking their permission, not getting them to agree to a model release contract, and selling the image as a piece of art etc would leave you open to being sued by the person whose picture you took

if you watch a show like 'jackass' you'll see some peoples faces blacked out, others won't be. the ones that aren't blacked out agreed to be on the show, the others either didn't agree or they makers didn't/couldn't ask them for the rights to use their face

I wouldnt mind being your model. I would love too but the fact you are down in Cork, its too awkward. I live in Dublin. What kind of pictures do you do? Could you show them?

I am in Cork but I'm not sure if I would be a good model. PM me if you are interested I have photos.

Shooting with a stranger off the net is a bad idea IMHO, if you want to practice with your new equipment, try family and friends or maybe a work colleague. Good luck and enjoy.

I'd have to agree. It's better to ask people you know when you're starting (that's what I intend to do). They'll be more patient as you test and play around with different things, generally speaking.

This is of course difficult if you're new to the country and don't know (m)any people. I couldn't imagine myself asking many of my friends to model, at least not initially. The few I'd ask at first would be mainly other photography people who wanted to take portraits also and close friends.
