What is the best gaming PC out there at the moment. I hear ALienware are at the forefront at the moment but i would like any suggestions. I've an outdated PC and an Xbox and neither can live up to the next gen games of today. not that impressed with the xbox 360 so far so thinking of getting a gaming pc and then a ps3 when it comes out soon...

Amd pc with 1gig ram , cpu amd64 ,with 256megpci-x graphics card,dvi/vga . amd athlon3700 cpu ,u cud get 1 for 1000euros if you built it yourself , or just do search amd gaming pc ,buy the pc with the fast amd64bit cpu.get at least 4 usb, with on board 7.1 sound with 3pci slots. You could spend 350e just on a grahics card, depends on your budget.

There are loads of companies out there that do gamingPC.s such as Alienware and teh Dell XPS

HOwever, the cheapest and probably best option is to build it yourself.

    Top PC would probably involve

    Athlon FX-57 chip - (bout 1000 euro)
    Fatal1ty motherboard
    Nvidia 2x7800GT(another 800)
    2 x Raptor 1000rpm HDD's
    bout 2gig or RAM

That should sort you for the next 5-6 years.
But itd be expensive as hell

Around 3 grand for an absolute stonker of a computer if you build it yourself. Around 1500 for a very decent machine.

Alienware Machine FTW i know you could build the same for cheaper but they just look so cool, if i had the money one would be bought :D

Alienware are for kiddies who are fooled by the looks.
I built an awesome machine with a far better looking case than any alienware for far less.
Runs everything i throw it at max settings 4 or 6 Xfsaa.
If and when i need more horsepower ill throw in another 7800GTX :)
Dont waste your money on overpriced marketing hype like alienware.

    Asus A8N SLI So939
    AMD Athlon64 X2 Dual Processor 4400+ + So939
    Seagate Barracuda 250GB HD
    Maxtor 40GB HD
    PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-110D [CD 40x Rd, 40x Wr] [DVD 5x Rd, 5x Wr]
Asus DVD-E616P3 [CD 16x Rd] [DVD 2x Rd]
    Geforce 7800GTX PCIExpress 256MB
    2GB DDR
    Creative Soundblaster live sound card
    XBlade Tower Case
    Samsung 930BF 19" 4ms LCD

That case is visually offensive, even more so than the alienware ones

lol sensitive guy arent you taking offense from a case :)

Looks good enough to me,besides its whats under the bonnet that counts :) a case is purely cosmetic.

I agree, and in that sense an Alienware computer, although expensive, would sate the original posters needs.

Not exactly. The appearance of the case is cosmetic but the case itself is important. Good cases have room for expansion and good airflow. Bad airflow causes overheating and shortens lifespan of cpu and gfx cards. But it's not always price - I have a nice little beige €40 case that has excellent airflow through it.

That is infact more accurate, although functional and asthetic cases do exist

    Er that goes without saying.

well if your going to be buying a new pc and dont know enough to trust yourself with building one you should by a ready made pc.
in this case i would go with CYBERPOWER's gamer ultra 900 its has all you need and a little extra. for £1159 you get the amd X2 4400 nvidia 7800gt, a nforce4 motherboard, 1gb of corsair ram and 400gb hd +wifi. then you just need to worry about geting a monitor.

though if your going to be building yourself then you can get away with spending a lot less. i myself am upgrading in 2 months and buying a nvidia 7800gtx 512mb a DFI Lanparty motherboard (it got dual gb lan :)) TV card, wifi, amd x2 4400 and some more harddrives for less then €1500. which to me is the much better deal... all im waiting for is komplett to start stocking my gfx card.

See WizZards sig for probably the best gaming PC you could build today.

    FX-60, 2 gigs ram, 2 x RAIDed Raptors, 2 x 7800GTX's. Doesn't get much better than that. Bastard.

Aye - I saw that. But I did say "Build" - You cant build quad SLi yet I don't think - its exclusive to dell at the mo isn't it?

you can build quad 7800gt, with the ASUS Dual 7800gts, but they are 800 each on komplett.

    OUCH:eek:

You could get 2*7800gtx 512mbs for that price, What would win?
    Probably the 512s

You can't built quad 7800GT with the dual 7800GTs on komplett. 2 of them won't work together.

  • Subscribers Posts: 6,408 ✭✭✭conzy

Yes they do, Toms hardware or someone did it, it works but its not "oficially supported" by NVIDIA yet so it was a bit buggy, but it worked;)
