Faulty ASUS motherboard

All my new components arrived yesterday and I'd built my new PC.

"No input signal" message displayed on monitor. No error codes/beeps from motherboard (ASUS A8N-SLi Premium).

The power supply is working as all the fans are spinning and the DVD/RW drives are operational and GPU fan is spinning.

I tried a different graphics card and same problem. I tested both graphics cards in another machine and worked fine.

Eventually I got into the BIOS screen and I began to setup the OS.

The board seems to boot from CD but no display.

When I remove the graphics card and turn the PC back on with no card in the board gives no error beeps..

I reckon the motherboard is faulty.

maybe, is the connector from the psu to the grahics card plugged in? also try resetting the bios, there should be a jumper switch near the cmos battery, move the jumper to the other two pins and back to reset the bios, worth a shot

Could be the RAM too - dodgy or loose RAM can cause nothing to happen when turning on the PC.

Yep checked all the connections on the board to the graphics card and they're all connected.
I tried the CMOS but haven't tried BIOS flash. A friend just suggested that to me there now also!

I took out the RAM and then restarted the PC, so the system gave some beeps. I thought that was a good indication

I can't even get to see the BIOS screen - "no input signal".
I got to the BIOS screen and OS setup screen last night but after it restarted same error message "No input signal"!
I turned off the PC, unplugged the power cord, unplugged all cables.
The CPU and RAM is inserted properly.
    I cleared the CMOS.
Insterted the graphics card back in and turned back on the PC (CPU, power supply and fans are all functioning!)

have you a different gfx card you can try or borrow one, to see whether it's the gfx or the mobo thats acting up

Yeh we tried that as well last night, my friend took his graphics card out and switched it into mine - same problems. We got an input signal from both cards at different stages.

so it'd definitely be a problem with the mobo so, you said the drives/fans were spinning up so it's not the psu and you'd still get a post screen if there was problem with ram/cpu, not much to do so other than send the board back

It still could be something else. Have you tried a different PSU? It could be giving dodgy outputs on the 3.3V rail or something that wouldn't affect drives and fans.

I don't have another PSU to test - the processor I'm using is the AMD Athlon 64 4200+ X2.

Check the keyboard and mouse and try a different set if possible. I had similar probs a few weeks ago when I was setting up a PC. Turned out the PC didn't like the way I had the wireless kb/mouse connected (mixture of ps/2 and usb so put both into usb ports). Booted up fine after that. Worth a shot anyway.

I tried a friends keyboard (PS/2) and mouse (USB) and then I tried my own keyboard (PS/2) and mouse (PS/2).
I've basically followed the troublshooting guildelines from the ASUS and Komplett sites

No, I haven't tried a different PSU, I've just been using my Seasonic S12 500W powersupply
