Anyone know is it safe to charge an 8.4v battery with a 9v charger?
Its my g/f's digital video camera and she's lost the charger
I have it plugged in for the last 5 mins and it seems to be charging ok.
I hope it doesnt explode

probably not the best for the battery in the long run, It'd be better to get a proper charger I'd say imo. Then again I once charged a 12 volt pack of 8 1.5volts AA up to 17volts by accident, That meter then took ages and ages to go dead!! Bad for the Batteries though or else I had a faulty multimeter!

What voltage is the 9V charger rated to be used at? i.e. if it is a UK one it will probably be 240V which means over here (usually 230V) it will be outputting about 8.6V.

Just because a battery outputs 8.4V does not mean it should be charged with an input of 8.4V
