Acer 19' AL1912 LCD monitor help needed

Hi, just turned on my pc when i got home from college today and noq my screen has gotten shorter in height bout 2-3 inches at the top and the bottom with black in the gaps.

also there is a grey rectangular box making itds way round my screen constantly saying "imput not supported"

It was fine last night when i turned it off and i have no idea whats happened, any ideas???

Are you getting any output? ie can you use the computer?

try checking the cable between the monitor and the computer

yep i can see my desktop fine, just the problems i mentioned and i tried the cable and it seems to be fine, nothing has been done to it since last nite yet its gone like this

Is they grey box over the desktop?

i just rebooted it and it was all better! (bit silly i know!)
