They are nowhere to be found atm :(.

Gamestop said they might have them this coming week (although could be total BS) and HMV said they would order one if you wanted but would take a week and a half if not a month+.

Play.com have them, but you said no interweb so...

If you manage to find one, PLEASE let me know!

    Indeed it does.
But it also makes it more bland, so you have to reduce brightness and increase contrast.

snap , also ordered from play.com 19.95 its a 10er cheaper than the ms official one and looks to have more connectors to it , though play was missing the tech spec for it

So I was one minute away from a good ol' rant about an post yesterday but decieded to leave it. Sure enough, as I was going training, my neighbour arrived in with a package, my VGA cable.

It was shipped Sunday 4th, got here yesterday (16th) not too bad I guess.

Anyway, onto the meat of this post. The difference the cable makes is huge, text was now readable! details shone through and colours were just a lively as before (I had heard complaints of the colours being washed out with the cable). If your not running in Hi-Def , find a solution to it! There is a world of difference.

I am running on a Dell 2005FPW, x-box on VGA, PC on DVI switch with the click of a button.

I will post shots later as I see a lot of questions as to how to set up the sound etc...

I ordered mine on the 10th of Feb, so hopefully it's here by the end of next week. It seems that 2 weeks is now the standard delivery time for play.com at the minute because that's how long it's been taking for my stuff to arrive.

I'm running my Dell 2405FPW (24") off the component cables and wonder would the vga cable make any improvement. On thing going for the component is that whe I set my 360 to 1080i, the 360 upscales the game from 720p (1280x720) to 1080i (1920x1080) [except NFS or COD2 which I read on widescreengaming forums are native 1080i]. And as the native res of my screen is 1920x1200, with aspect or 1:1 set in the OSD it will display the picture almost perfectly. If I had the VGA cable it would be displaying a lower res 1366x768 image. I'd probably buy one if they could be found.

Well for me the composite cable was no comparison to the VGA cable. The composite cable looked fuzzy, pretty bad overall.

    I am not completly sure which res to run at, I can go for;

    (Native is 1600x1050 16:10)

1280x768; it's the same ratio as the monitor.

1280x1024; largest pixel count allowing for a better scale up.

Well for me the componant cable was no comparison to the VGA cable. The componant cable looked fuzzy, pretty bad overall. Sounds like it's working well enough for you though...
You were using a composite cable before you got the VGA cable ;).

Indeed... all that crap confuses me! Post fixed.

I have the VGA cable ages now... but can't use it... I ordered the one off play.com.

My TV has a DVi input though.. so I figured a simple VGA to DVi adapter would do the job... but there isn't enough space at the back of the set when I have the adapter plugged in.

Very annoying... why there isn't a DVi or HDMi cable is beyond me.

Could you not just buy a DVI cable so you can go from 360>vga cable>vga-dvi>dvi cable>TV

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,285 ✭✭✭Smellyirishman

Yeah, just buy a small DVI extension cable (and coupler depending on the sex of your TV and current adapter), should be about €5-10. Here is the final setup for connecting the audio and extending the VGA cable if anyone is wondering (Seen a few people stuck on how to connect the audio)

That coupler might do the job.

    Would Peats have them?

I've gone through about 3 or 4 different adapters and cables at this stage and none of them have worked out... I've just gotten a bit fed up with it at this stage... But I guess I should give it another go.

Yeah, try peats or maplins for a coupler.

is there much difference between the vga and the rgb HD cables?

I have this Sharp Aquos LCD and im using the RGB HD cable.

I actually forgot to hit the HD switch on the side (yes im stupid!) and i tought it was looking sweet. When i actually switched on the HD i couldnt believe the difference. Earlier today i was in pc world and the had it set up on a 27" HD tv and it look crap compared to what im used to.

My lcd has hdmi and vga in is it worth changing to any of these?

RGB is scart, but since youve switched the HD switch I assume you mean component.
Personally I find VGA much better than component, but youve got to adjust settings.(For both I find, but VGA is still better.)

My joytech vga cable arrived the other day.

Is it just me or is Perfect Dark a lot more playable in HD? The controls seem a lot smoother. Also, does anyone know if they do the audio phono to stereo convertors in peats or anywhere in town?
