Ideas for student summer holiday

    Hey,

I'm in Uni and I'm begining to look into what I could do for the summer - I did the J1 thing last year; it was really, really brilliant, but I'm not so sure about doing it again this year, I was thinking about maybe doing it next year instead and getting a job for this summer.

So, basically I'm looking for some ideas on how I could spend the month/last 2 or three weeks of August - prefereably travelling outside Europe; America/Australia/New Zealand/Pacific, maybe Asia, but on a budget of about €2500-€3000. I've been on the Green Tortoise website, which seems interesting, so maybe something along the lines of that? I'm really looking for suggestions of destinations and (cheap) ways of getting there.

    Any ideas?

you could go to the sziget music festival in Budapest, hungary ( 9-15th of august) 100 euro a ticket including camping, its meant to be incredible. with flights and food and booze it should only cost you around €500 all told!

How about heading to the Middle East or Egypt? (cheap places once you get there, just remember to get an International Student Card before you go)

Never been to America, but it's on my list so that's a good idea too.

You're wasting your time heading to Australia/New Zealand for two or three weeks.

That's what I thought too, right now I'm probably confined to Europe/North/South America.

The Green Tortoise trips accross the US seem interesting, has anybody on boards actually ever been one one?
