Recently cancelled sky for the parents and had planned to use the sky box for fta channels, after search the forum I followed the following instructions that worked:

    - Turn on box, go to Sky news
    - Hit interactive
    - Take out card and turn upside down
    - press backup to get out of interactive

    - UK EPG loads which gave bbc1,2, etc in the 101,102 slots

I then set up the favourites to be the FTA channels for my parents.

The question I have is that my parents unplug tv, video, dvd, sky box every night and once they do this I have to go through the above procedure.

Is there anyway of setting the sky box setup to the uk fta or do I have to go through the above procedure each time ?

Watty has pointed this out many times ;)

Tell em to leave the sky box plugged in at all times

Tell them that "lectric" is in quite common use these days and no longer needs to be treated with suspicion or fear that it might "leak out of the wall" and that neither the TV, nor kettle, not cooker will spontaneously explode and burn down the house during the night if left plugged in....

    Sheesh!

If they leave the box plugged out they won't get software upgrades (sent at 4am usually), meaning there won't be an EPG for them after the reshuffle....

Sky box is meant to be left plugged in and attached to an LNB at all times.

Actually the TV might.. It's very plastic and has much higher rated fuse.

I'd unplug TV sets that don't have a "real" on off. One in Crecora burnt down the kitchen.

The Satboxes are all in metal boxes so OK.

MY DVD is in a metal case and unusually has a real on/off switch.
