Yeah.. postal seems to be the definitive job of a nutbag!

    Hence the term "going postal"

I thought the 'Goin Postal' thing had died off in the 90s, but looks like THEY'RE BACK......

OK, how did I not hear about this incident?

Crazy people can be scary, depending on the person. Crazy people with weapons are just scary. Period.

Bet they all had copies of Postal 2 installed on their home PC's...

Do you really think they are loonies? I know and have known plenty of people and co-workers who would have 'gone postal' if Ireland had easy access to firearms.

It's the unnatural corporate environment and lack of worker/people respect by unqualified management and business in general.

Seems to happen a lot in the US Postal service though, if I was in charge there I'd be looking at why it happens and trying to correct it.

Apparently it's a new record "for most kills in a workplace by a woman". Well done!

Now telling us all that means someone won't want to let that record stand too long!

    Mike.

It's no good unless you put the sperm into a woman and her eggs are fertilised!

Knuckle children don't count... otherwise I'm worse than Hitler & Stalin.

    <laughs heartily>

I think the americans have an unstable mindset when it comes to these situations. These shootings are almost part of their culture, they just seem to grab a gun and go ballistic.

I worked over in Redneck country for a while, and you literally see guys driving to work in big pickup-trucks with rifles and shotguns mounted on a rack behind them... just takes one bad pay review and... -snap!-

Seriously think that a lot of places treat people like robots also, and disregard the whole emotional/psychological aspect of their employees. Eventually people crack, and I've worked with some guys who I'm convinced would have did it if they had firearms.

Apparently most of these Postal shootings are attributed to the fact that many vietnam vets work in the postal system in the US

People always blame this kind of thing on everybody having guns in the US, but the fact is if everybody had guns this kind of thing would hardly ever happen, and when it did they'd get shot themselves pretty damn quick.

Ever play Postal or Postal 2 on the PC?

Serious games. Anyone who hasn't played them, especially Postal 2, you really should. It makes GTA, to quote a version of the (now banned) games cover, "look like a disney cartoon"

I played it for hours when I first got it, chuckling merrily as I doused people in petrol and set them alight, decapitated thugs trying to rob the local indian store with a rusty shovel, beat cops senseless, stabbed children with sissors, and pissed over the bodies of slain civilians in the middle of the street.

Yep, great game. It even has a level featuring none other then Gary Coleman...

But eh yeah, terrible things happening over there in the US postal system.

Or, if you come back to reality, and consider the idea of nobody having guns, then these thigns just plain wouldn't happen, would they?

They tried that in the Wild West, Steve, Dodge City... could only be tamed by Wyatt Earp. What did he do? Shot lots of people and brought in a law stating all guns were forbidden within the city limits. ;)

Yes, because if there were no more guns nothing bad would ever happen and we could spend all day singing and dancing around in green fields with sunshine, rainbows and little fluffy clouds.

Has it occured to you that perhaps there are other things besides guns which are also dangerous, or perhaps even more dangerous, and there are f**ked up people out there who'll just find some other way of hurting people ?

As much fun as hollywood westerns are, they're highly innaccurate. If you google for comparisons of wild west to modern murder rates, they're much lower (and even lower still if you take medical advances into account).

Yes, but it would be considerably more difficult to go on a killing rampage with breadknife.

An article by a former US sheriff about studies done showing knives are more dangerous than guns clicky

and two articles about studies into canadian statistics on violent crimes, pay particular attention to both the numbers, and percentages, of major injuries caused by firearms compared to knives and blunt instruments clicky1 , clicky2
