Broadband will only work on windows 98 second edition. So download the update and it should work. then just plug in the yellow ethernet cable if your pc has the slot ,if not run the cd and follow the instructions it will install the drivers so the black usb cable will work.

If all else fails, pick up a network card, and use it that way. You should get one for almost nothing on the for sale forum.

With windows 98 you need a driver for almost any USB device.
If the manufacturer does not have it on their web site or disk then not good. If the only driver they have is for 98 SE (second edition) and you don't have 98 SE then the driver is unlikely to work.

Getting a NIC is a better option all round - less messing around with USB drivers and probably less load on the CPU too. Just don't install file and print sharing, all you want is an IP address.

this is from Eircoms BB support using the 3341 Router ....

    http://dsl-support.eircom.net/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/&/?St=91&E=0000000000009940310&K=6729&Sxi=15&Question4053=obj(4053):obj(4054)

follow the win link thru to ... select the w98 link .... and get this .....
Windows 95, 98(first edition) and NT4 do not support USB

USB is not supported on Windows 95, 98(first edition) or NT4.
Even though your computer may have USB ports, Windows 95, 98(first edition only) and NT4 were not capable of running USB devices.

It is recommended that you upgrade your operating system to at least Windows 2000 or Windows XP or acquire a network card and connect using ethernet.

Looks like the guys above ... 'get a card' is the way to go ....
