My sis lives over in france and is constantly saying i should come and visit her, apparantly the hunting is very good in the area where she lives. If i wanted to bring my rifle over there would i need some specific paperwork or is there some way i could hire one for hunting purposes?I'd ask her but i reckon she wouldnt have a clue..!

Depends on what kind of rifle it is Degsy. For .22 & air, we would need basicly a europass; but from state to state in the EU the actual requirements vary considerably. The UK, for example, doesn't believe in europasses at all, it seems. There you need a visitor's permit.

Walk into your local station with your licence and ask for it. If you have the licence, you are legally entitled to the europass. It's free, but bring a passport photo.

Also note that you'll need to check out what the hunting licence requirements are in France - that's something I wouldn't know anything about.

Well, they have nice wine. And cheap wine. But the two are rarely in the one bottle unless something awful's happened :D
(And remember folks, 12 hours from bottle to trigger!)

Abit different to here.It is quite regulated and controlled. If you are a resident there you have to do a written and practical test.If you are being invited to hunt with somone, you will need is a written confirmation of where and when you will be hunting. Also they will be able to advise you as to what paperwork you need.Or get your Sis to drop into the local town hall, and if it is a really small rural town ask for the local Marie or mayor,if she doesnt know him already. He will be usually only too happy to help as the French belive in having their local berurcrats in touch with their citizens, unlike here.
ASFIK,it is usually pretty straightforward for a visitor to get a hunting liscense if he is an invitee of somone local.Plus be assured it will be done with the usual French lassiez faire efficent attitude.
BTW Do get a chance if you do to check out the local armuiers[gunshops] you will be amazed what the French allow their citizens to prchase and own for fun and self defence.

    Bon Voyage.

You can buy a .22lr rifle over the counter in France as well AFAIK without getting a license.
