Is there any chance of the subbed.php page returning (It got lost in the redesign) or an option to show more new posts on the frontpage appearing?

Lately I find my frontpage (showing just subscribed forums) only shows about half an hour of threads for most of the day. The subbed page made checking new posts a lot quicker.

I'll try get it working today. I only wrote it because I couldn't keep up with boards without it, didn't know if anyone else would find it useful. The database redesign introduced a problem that I didn't figure out how to solve.

    Sparky,
Neither of them are what i'm looking for. I was talking about subscribed forums.

    Ecksor,
    Thanks.

Nice work, but (for me) the image doesn't work. Links to "images/custom/minimalist/go.gif"

    No it didn't

Now get away from the poker table and make it so that I can select a number bigger than 30 in that drop down box! :o

Thanks! It just makes things so much easier!

No, it combines subscribed threads as well.

Imposter, it should offer a few numbers up to 200. If it doesn't, then select one of them and manually change the number in the location bar for the time being and tell me what browser you're using. Meanwhile, I'm off to a poker table ...

it offers up to 200 and says 200 in the url but only shows 30
    thats' with firefox

It doesn't work with firefox. Changing the number in the location bar also doesn't work! Now i'm curious as to what x and y are?

Never you damn well mind what ecks and why are!

Hm, are you also keeping the "onlynew=yes" thing set? That will restrict it to new threads only regardless of what number you select.

I.e, if there's 10 new threads and you select onlynew it'll never show you more than 10. If there's 400 new threads and you select onlynew along with 200 then you'll see 200. Capiche?

Will this affect the server in relation to load?
Just curious, it seems to load really quicky compared to the vB's one.
So I assume its only using a few querys on a few tables.

ecksor, your example isn't working out.:(

the page is just showing up 30 posts no matter what your pick.
    thats in firefox1.5 and IE6

It should be far more efficient than anything equivalent on the site.

Jabberwock, show me the URLs and a copy of the output, via PM if you want.

Not working right here either. I'm getting a few lines of gibberish at the top of the page too.

you my friend are a genius. working like the dream it is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,488 ✭✭✭Goodshape

It seems to be displaying the right number of threads now but I'm still getting the junk text at the top.

(the first thread link that isn't gibberish seems to be the most recent post, i.e. the one that should be at the top, so it must be getting extra text from somewhere else)

Working right for me now! No I wasn't using the onlynew 'thing'.
    Thanks.

Goodshape, give me an example of this text you're speaking of.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,488 ✭✭✭Goodshape

I've attached the html output as a txt file.

It won't let me copy and paste the text (crazy characters) but it still looks as it does in the screenshot I posted above.
