Id be interested to find out what the people think of Market Researchers i.e the people who ring you up and go "would you like to do a 20 min survey on x, y & z". What are your experiences and how do you handle these people when they call??

Personally, as soon as I hear the magic word I just put the phone down. No point in wasting any more time on them. Plus if I'm in a particularly foul mood, such as when that's the third time that day I've been called and asked "Can I speak to the person who pays the Eircom bills?", I may add the odd expletive before doing that.

is someone calling you up, or are you working for a market researcher?

I have no time for these people personally, it’s a form of harassment imo.
I was visiting my parents during Christmas, their phone rang 4 times, the same people, each time my parents answered, they were far too polite, hence the ringing back after 30mins or so.
I took the fifth call and basically told them to stop their harassing calls we were not interested, I admit to being rude, but the message got through.

Hello Mr. Soze, my name is JimBob McGarnagle calling from *******, all they hear is the phone being hung up, or even the occasional, F**k off and stop wasting my time. So yes I like them alot

I ask them to "hold please" and leave the phone off the hook and beside a wind-up singing toy if there's one handy. ;)

Usually takes them around 15 mins to realise I'm not coming back.

Heh, one of them rang my gf and she decided, yeah why not? One of the first questions was "How much does the main earner in the household earn?". She promptly told them to f-off.

Unfortunately I do part time (well because they are F**k all part time jobs goin round at the mo and its very flexible can basically do wat ever shifts you like and go to college!!!!). I hate to say it but some of these people do it for a living and they are only trying to do their jobs its not their fault that the pr**ks that write up the questions have little cop on. For example id have to read out a list of statements and get the person to rate them according to a number, some of them are crazy all you hear mostly is people go 10, 10, 10, 10 o ill give that a 9. Cant blame them. I agree seamus that q about how much you earn is inappropriate, we'd never ask that. Nehow the next time you get a call from one of these people be nice at least cause there not doing it for the good of their health....

and does boards.ie pay you for your "opinion"???. Mind you, you have a high opinion of yourself if you think anybody would be interested in paying for your opinion (on a non professional level of course). Get a grip man....
