I'm a big Star Wars fan but tbh the whole prequel trilogy was a pile of pants.

Star Wars Eps I, II, III = poo X 3!

Loved the originals but George Lucas needs to be strung up, IMO!

Has to be Star Wars, utter puke.

Loved the original Star Wars but the prequels were complete and utter bollocks.

I thought the Star Wars was bad but the WOTW was terrible. It should never had been remade unless they could pull it off which they didnt

War of the Worlds - worst film I've seen in ages. Only for that it would have ben another vote for Star Wars. Thank God Lucas has decided not to make eps 7-9.

Out of that lot, I was most disappointed by Batman Begins.

Out of that lot, I only SAW Batman Begins and Star Wars Episode III...

    King Kong, most definitely.

After Star Wars I and II, how can you say that you were disappointed by III?

Yeah, kinda píssing against the wind hoping for a decent film there weren't we? So I had to vote batman Begins because I didn't think anything of this. Maybe it was the mood I was in or something, but I just didn't like it. Haven't seen King Kong yet, not really in a hurry to either as I've heard bad things from people who's opinion I trust.

i was pleasantly suprised by WOTW. My favorite film of last year was definietly batman begins. loved it. overrated was star wars though.

have to say - was a bit surprised by the movies we had to choose from

with the notable exceptions of WOTW and Star Wars 3, I thought all those films were excellent and lived up to the reviews/expectations I had.

I had never seen the Firefly series, but Serenity looked great on the previews, and was so excellent I have since bought the Serenity DVD and Firefly DVD series.

Batman Begins was just as excellent as everyone said, and Crash was better than even the reviews had made it out to be, I thought. And though, I haven't seen King Kong, most of my movie loving friends thought it was fantastic....

i would have thought mr & mrs smith and harry potter were bigger let downs...?

wotw stressed me. no one listened to anyone so everything had to be repeated five times then shouted. and the film made no sense.

when the annoying little kid (i call her screamer) was standing there while tom cruise ran after the son to physically stop him from attacking the aliens (of course he had to physically stop him because its wotw and no one can just listen to anyone else) i wanted to climb into the screen and strangle the woman who tried to grab her. the conversation should have gone:

    stupid woman: where's your dad?
    screamer: ten feet over there
stupid woman: oh ok, bye so

    instead it went:
stupid woman: oh you're on your own. come with me
screamer: no my dad's right there
stupid woman: come on. you have to come with me (grabs her)
    screamer: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa (grabs tree)
stupid woman:let go. come with me. i'll protect you
screamer: my dad is ten feet away you daft bint
stupid woman:let go, let go let go

(tom cruise comes over and grabs screamer)
stupid woman: oh i thought she was alone
    ggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrr

the fact that no one listened to anyone in that film actually let tom cruise to beat christopher robbin to death with a shovel. now that's ignorance!

the biggest plot hole: the aliens came to earth millions of years ago, before the dawn of man, and buried ships to destroy them now. why not just take over the planet then rather than wait millions of years and allow 6 billion people to infest it first

Yeah this was utterly retarded. What the **** could be wrong with a script writer or director thinking this makes sense? I getting sick to **** of Morgan Freeman's voice too.

It still wasn't near as bad as Episode III though, which was considerably worse than I thought it was going to be. There was actually a great plot outline there for Episodes I,II,III but a complete hames was made. George Lucas must have had a stroke at some stage in the 80s after the orginal scripts were written, or else he needs to start doing blow again or something.

Bad movies to choose from imo. Batman Begins and Crash were excellent. Havent seen Serenity but I dont think any if the other movies were overated. WOTW, Star Wars and King Kong were met with mixed reviews by the critics afaik.

Well afaik the movie was a remake of a book which in this day and age might seem dated. You cant blame the plot holes on the filmmaker/screenwriter.

You think they were inclined to treating the source material with reverence?

Well I havent read the book but for me the biggest plot hole was the ending. Like the aliens with all their technology would not assume that the earths biosphere would be a potential threat to their health. But that was the way the book ended I am told .. so i was prepared to overlook it because the source material was dated. Not the screenwriters fault :/

A commen mistake. In the book/radio play/1953 film/Pendragon film the aliens came down to earth as they where invading it. (They came in what look like metors) I've often said it to people. If it was just tri-pods walking around for a few hours killing people, it have been a much better film. However they had to put those twats into it and rune it all!

Can i just say the thread is about the most OVER-RATED film of the year. Most of these turds were known to be turds because every person who saw them said so.
Only Batman and Crash were actually over rated. Batman was ok.

Crash, now that was over rated. All it was, was Hollywood patting itself on the back for being hip and liberal. It was a moronic attempt at making a thought provoking piece. I mean, jesus, all of the ridiculous coincidences. Just because you juggle 5 or 6 stories doesn't mean you are Robert Altman.
