ms excel problem

i cant open up the view, tools, or help tabs on my excel. just wont let me access them, they turn up as light grey and inaccesible. any ideas why?

1. Have you got a spreadsheet open at the time ?

2. Is that spreadsheet read-only ?

Did you install with "minimum" option? Are the required files on your PC or is the application expecting to find them on your installation CD in the drive?
