problems patching BF2

    just installed bf2 tried patching it 1.01 worked fine, the rest of the patches freeze? it says patching software and thats all it does could stay there for hours doesnt crash my computer just hangs any ideas?

    when you get to the point just before it starts to install the patch go to your temp folder, sort by date modified and you will see a folder has just been created, inside is another file and a folder, copy the contents of that folder to your bf2 directory and run the patch program.

    or make sure you have 3gigs or so free on the drive you are installing to.

    You only need 1 patch and that's Patch 1.2

    Is it the 1.2 that's failing?

    Don't install them all. Honestly, it'll only make things worse.

    Every patch is bigger than the last as it includes the info of all the other patches.

    Can you go to /my docs/BF2/dmp/ and open the patchlog.err file and post it here please?

    couldnt find a patchlog.eer file could only find a patchlog.txt here it is http://members.boards.ie/catsmokinpot/patchlog.txt

    and its 1.12, 1.2 isnt out yet should i just wait for that one?

    Yeah sorry, it's 1.12 that you need. There isn't a date yet for 1.2 but anytime in the next 2 weeks would be a good guess.


    The funny thing is that your patchlog.txt file looks fine. No errors except for the usual language files. I've seen over 30 different files from different people and can usually tell what's wrong by reading them but not this time.

    In saying that there are always things to try but it may be just trial and error at this stage ok?


    Can you see if you have a PATCH.ERR file in \\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\


    2 things that have worked for others are

    a) Boot into safe mode and install the patch.
    b) Disable any anti-virus/spyware programs which can block the patch.


    Off hand, I think that your 'patchlog.txt' file is from the 1.03 patch which you say worked fine. Could you please delete everything in the /dmp/ folder before you install the next patch?
