I'm thinking of going to Frankfurt for the summer with a friend. He probably has a job sorted already through his sister who lives there, so I'm just wondering how hard it would be to secure one for myself (no German). Also anything else of interest to know about Frankfurt. Share your experiences guys! Any help would be great. :)

Would definetly recommend Frankfurt for the summer, its a class city. Huge skyscrapers, nice weather in the summer, hot turkish birds, etc. Getting a job shouldntbe too hard as there are alot of Irish pubs, and everyone in the city speaks english, but make sure you put a CV in about now because the world cup is been staged in Frankfurt so ide imagine alot of people would be looking for summer jobs.

You'll get a pretty crap pay but the tips you make there are unreal. Try Irish pubs such as O'reillys, O'Dwyers, Anglo Irish, An sibin, and McGowans (o'reillys been the best, mcgowans been the worst).

Accommodation might be difficult enough as most of the apartments come unfurnished and can be quite expensive. Would advise you go there and have a hostel booked for a week (try 'stay and learn') and give yourself time to look around.

Any other Questions Ide be more than happy to answer

absolutely fantastic city. You have the skyscrapers, the Hauptwasche (where all the craic goes on) and the Romer for its history. You can get the train from Fulda (which is a good place for accomodation approx 1hr 30 mins on the Deutsche Bahn only €24 for 5 people on the train for a whole day) You could also see Kassel which is a great city to the north of Hessen

I would sadly have to disagree with the other posters here. I found very little to do in Frankfurt. However thats maybe because i like scenery and i had just been to Heidelberg and Munich before i went there, saying that i didnt really like Frankfurt. Most of the city is newly built and theres not much of the "altstadt(oldtown)" is left. Have fun anyway :)

I'd have to agree with Ruu on this one. I've been to Frankfurt a good few times with work and even though its a nice city to look at.. its pretty boring to be honest..

Nice to see for a day or two, but in general there are a lot better places to spend the summer in germany... Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart etc..

Frankfurt can be very humid in summer on account of it being in a "bowl". I really enjoyed my time there and there are plenty of places within easy reach. It's an excellent place for gigs. I'd avoid Stuttgart completely. Many people love Munich (I don't) and Berlin is great.

Frankfurt is very boring in my opinion. It's just a place for businesses and conferences and a passing through point for travellers.
