Just bought a new Gibson ES 175 after many years ogelling, It looks the biz and plays brill but its a bit 'buzzy'. I've tightned everything possible but still buzzy. Does anyone else have a 175 with the same problem ?

Can you isolate whereabouts the buzzing is coming from?

Does it buzz on one particular string or all of them?

Does it buzz when you fret strings or does it only buzz when a string is played open?

It's not buzzing on the fret board, strings, intonation and action are perfect, best I've played. Buzzing seems to come from around the pick guard and around the pickup mountings, it's really pissin me off cause it wasn't cheap

If you remove the pickguard and shake the guitar is there a rattle?

Good idea, I never thought of that. I was a bit reluctant to go at it, I've stripped other guitars down and banged em around but this one is different.
Couldn't do much harm taking off the pick guard tough, I'll give it a go and let ya know.

Maybe it's the springs on the pickup screws?

    Hey Feylya,

Thanks for your reply, I've tightned the pickup screws, don't think it's the springs, going to take the pick guard off and see what happens, it may be a loose nut under one of the pots.

Where'd ya get the groovey headstock done ?

It was a member called Sionnach I think. There's a signature request thread in the Photoshop forum. Hope you get your problem sorted out soon and welcome to the forum.

    Thanks for your welcom Feylya,

If I cant sort it out, I'll take it back to that well known instrument emporium which I won't mention, but it 's name begines with a 'W'
and let them sort it out.
That thread you mentioned in photoshop for your headstock graphics, could the same thing exist in Autocad ? I have recently imported a container of guitars from China, surprisingly high quality, copies of all the usual suspects, and would like to customise the headstocks.

Any information fortcoming would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest you check out www.projectguitar.com and it's forum. Loads of information there about headstock decals. You'll need special paper and a laser printer I think but it can be done. Some people here have done it before.

Thats an excellent website, cheers, I'd probobly never have found it without your help, you must be a major guitar muso, or have a very keen intrest in the instrument.

That headstock of yours has to be a strat or a tele, hard to make out , but it looks like a tele, if so, you must have heard of Dany Gatton ?
