right i finally came into a bit of money and this time it's going on an amp (i'm putting the fender jap strat on hold until the summer).

so i was looking around on thomann and musicstore koln etc, just wondering will there be any problems with the plug for the amp?

Snip it off, wire on an Irish one. Simple as. Or alternitavely, buy a little converter, like the shaving plug thingies.

They come with a detachable IEC lead (same shape as is on your kettle, your PC, etc) you can pick up an Irish one in any DIY or electrical store. Just make sure you put the correctly rated fuse in the plug.

Just use the fuse in the European plug that comes with the amp. At least fuses are universally sized the same :)

Just use any kettle lead out of an old PC, it'll be fine, most european plugs arent fused anyway

A 3A or higher. If it blows out at any stage when you're turning the amp on, then up it to a 5A or 13A. There's a fuse inside an amplifier anyway which is rated for the transformer so all you really need to do is make sure the plug is fused higher.

I would strongly recommend you change the plug unless you can get an adaptor that also includes a proper earth connection (they usually don't). It's dangerous to leave an amp unearthed even under normal operating conditions. Besides which, the amp may not function correctly, since most of an amp circuit requires ground to generate potential.

Also Up for grabs is a great condition tweed Peavey Classic 30 Amp built in 2002 A fantastic amp for blues or vintage rock. It has a 30W RMS into a 16 ohms 12" Blue Marvel speaker. I also have the tweed extension cabinet for it with an original 12” Celestion (rola) classic 30 in it which I picked up in a london store for a pretty penny and lugged it back on Ryan Air which was a painful experience. I had it recently serviced and had it installed with brand new JJ Telsa preamp tubes, four JJ EL84 power amp tubes, These are THE tubes to use in this amp, it makes a HUGE difference over the stock Sovtek tubes. The amp has a two-channel preamp (selectable with push switch and included 2-button footswitch). With pre and post gain, volume, 3-band passive EQ, push boost switch, reverb level, and effects loop. Chromeplated chassis with a classic tweed cover. The amp has a tube guard installed to protect the tubes from accidental damage and comes with a custom made tube holder to stop that annoying tube rattle associated with these amps when recording. The footswitch, and the original owners manual are included. I love this amp and I'm only selling it because I picked up a Fender 59 bassman reissue recently and I don't need both. 500 Euros

Classic 30 for 500 lids over on FS retubed with new JJs....nice.

Peavey should really change their logo. It's horrendous. Very nice amp though.
