The last time I heard a guy whine about this, he turned out to be extremely boring and had no personality that I could tell.

My comment wasn't just a cheeky remark. There's a lot of truth behind it. I find that a lot of the people demed better looking than most seem to have their head so far up their own arse that they can see out of their own nostrels. The uglier people tend to be a lot nicer and more genuine. Of course there are exceptions. I think that's why people go for arseholes. They're generally better looking.

I am giving a decent answer. Guys who call themselves nice(not necessarily you, in general) and complain that being nice doesn't get girls generally aren't interesting and "nice" is all they have going for them.
If a guy is attracting women, he's probably appearing confident and self assured, as opposed to the "nice guy" sitting in the corner who probably appears to have issues in the first place if he's complaining about this subject.

I said it's not relevant and made the bread comparison, because I think it's true that it's not a question of nice or nasty, it's appearance of confidence (even so far as arrogance) etc.
I've never gone for guys that were not nice, but I have a friend who has, and it has a LOT more behind it than nice vs mean.

The topic is pointless - a better discussion would be what attracts women to men or something like that. Which is again too generalised in my opinion, but a little more constructive and relevant.

The reason the A$$hole is getting some is simply genetics.
By giving women the impression that he does not need them,
he is exhibiting typical alpha-male behaviour, which puts him
in a position of power with the woman. Nice guys makes the
mistake of giving their power away to the woman, which isn't
very attractive to them in terms of procreation and stuff.
It's all hardwired into their pretty little heads. Nothing we
can do about I'm afraid. Any scientichian will tell you that.
