no too sure. xtrav-vision are phasing out games (not entirely though) because they're just not doing enough business. they're going to eliminate "xtra-game" too

That's a dirty lie. I asked an Xtra-vision manager about this and she actually laughed. She even checked the with DM for me, and he said games are very profitable.

They'll start renting games as soon as they can. They just aren't being delivered enough of them to rent them. :).

They'll start renting games when the user base has been built up. Should be before June. Games are extremely profitable.

yea i'd imagine they would make a lot of money from games.... not everyone would pay €70 just to give a game a try :p

Angry Banana, it's a dirty lie to say such.

While not written too well for a quick read, projectmayhem said "xtrav-vision are phasing out games" but added "not entirely though". It'd be nice if people didn’t fling around the accusation of “dirty lie” of similar without first carefully reading the post of accused.

Just because something is “very profitable” doesn’t mean it can be even more so.

Did the same Xtra-vision manager tell you this?

    This is true!!

Xtra-vision are in a bad state with alot of staff from their head office being laid off.

I emailed edel in their customer care and there is no date or plans to rent xbox 360 games yet.

First off, relax I was only being sarcastic. Second of all, no it's not a dirty lie, games are very profitable - as you will go on to point out in later in your post.

And yet that still doesn't debase the claim that they're not phasing out games.

I did read it, thanks :).

Yep you're right. But in this case that's simply not happening. They might be doing something in one district or what not, but in general Xtra-vision are (at least) maintaining their level of game base. To say they're phasing it out just isn't true.
Did the same Xtra-vision manager tell you this?
Actually the (I think) Operations Manager told me this via the company-wide voicemail.

I'm relaxed, and was when writing by above post. I did not mean to leave the "games are very profitable" in there, or at least I was not replying to such, that's how relaxed I was! :)

I don’t think he's saying they are actually phasing out games full stop, hence that
"not entirely though", 'scaling back' would have been a better way of saying it.

Grand so, sorry. Picked you up wrong. Was just diffusing :).

But I don't think they're even scaling back. Hey if I go to Xmas party tomorrow (yeah, I know, in late January ) I'll ask some people and see what the situation is.

I very much dought that Xtra Vision will phase out Xtra Game. I worked on the development project for Xtra Game and rolled out the first stores in Ireland and up the North. They have worked very hard to become a reputalble games seller within Ireland have worked very hard building a working relasonship with big developers and hardware companys.

The reason that Xtra Vision may not be able to rent out XB360 titles may be due to a shortages; or it is that royaties have to be shared due to the ATI and NVidia war that goes on inside the console. The reason that you never see a Nintendo title for rent is just that Nintendo won't allow it. So may be Microsoft have taken a stance against it, which I dought very much.

I am sure that the gaming team at atra vision will be working hard to sort out what ever reason it is. They understand the customer base and this is a top profit earner for certain stores.

You may want to try trading in older Xbox titles for a new XB360 Title.

XTV are growing their games section (i.e. PSP's) but will not roll out 360 games until more units are bought, currently approx 9k consoles sold in Eire.
