Just found out on Thursday that I'm off to Charlotte, North Carolina, tomorrow (Sunday) for work. I'll be there for 2 weeks.

Any ideas on what to get ?

I've already ordered Animal Crossing on eBay but it hasn't arrived yet, so I may buy it over there to play while I'm there and sell the eBay one here on boards...

    Mario and Luigi looks promising....

    Electroplankton....I'm undecided

    Any other ideas ?

I'll off to the US (for work) next week too.

    I'm gonna get..

Phoenix Wright (a lawyer game) - it seems to be out of stock atm on import sites.

and Trauma Center (a surgery game) :)

Have heard lots of good things about them both.

Buy every game you intend to get. They are far cheaper in the US than over here.

Pretty much. Just get all the games ye want, even if one or two of them haven't been released over here. They just go for way less money.

If you're asking for recommended titles, I'm sure there's a thread around here somewhere...

    EDIT: Found one.

I understand what you're saying, but is there anything new that's out that won't be over here for a bit?

The threads here are for games available here.....

Alot of the titles in that recommendation thread have not been released in Ireland yet.

    I would go for

    Phoenix Wright
    Trauma Center
    Sonic Rush
    Kirby's Canvas Curse
    Bubble Bobble DS (Only $20!)
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time

just have a look at that thread

The only generally well-recieved US games that have not been released in Europe yet are Viewtiful Joe DS (February), Electroplankton, Animal Crossing: WW, and Trauma Centre (all March according to Play.)

You're going to (criminally) have to wait till July for European releases of Phoenix Wright and Metroid Prime Pinball, two games I'd highly recommend picking up.

Eurogamer says Phoenix Wright is out on Mar 31st. Has it slipped again?

I'm just going by what Play says; they're usually quite accurate.

Ok - Have got Animal Crossing, Trauma Center and Mario & Luigi.

Will keep an eye out for others.

Have only tried Animal Crossing briefly - too bloody busy - and stress and jet-lag also taking their toll.....

I'd say you should definitely get electroplankton if you are into music, I am a bit of a music nut and it's gotten more play time since last march than any other game I have. I still regularly pick it up and mess around for a while. It's also good if you like to make people look and sound really stupid, that's with a little help from any of the microphone based games.

How much are the games over there?

30-35$ (25-29€ roughly) for most new games.

OK, Im goin to the US on Sat. So ill probably get Phoenix Wright & Trauma Centre and one other - what exactly is Electroplankton? Is it an actual game with a narrative plot or is it purely for making music or something?

And ever so slightly off-topic.....I'll be taking the DS onto the plane with me. Now, (seriously) is the stylus considered a dangerous weapon? :)

Electroplankton is just a music making programme with no narrative. However don't let that put you off. It definitely isn't for everyone but give it a go at least. If you like it you can spend hours just messing around with it.
