press the "print screen" button when the screen is paused, paste into word and print.

You could also turn off hardware acceleration and hit the Print Screen button and paste into MSPaint or whatever.

If you play it in VLC, go to the Video drop down and Snap shot. It'll take a full size pic and put it in your my pictures folder in My documents. I love it

    got this using it ;)

Any way of getting a bigger screengrab? The VLC one is pretty small.

Well there's no point in getting anything bigger than 720x576 if it's that, as that's the resolution of DVD video.

Problem solved. Got screengrabs at 1024 x 576, not entirely sure how, but who cares?

That's a fair point, but, as i said, i don't know why the resolution went from 320 x 240 the first time I tried to 1024 x 576 later. I didn't change any settings in VLC. I've since tried a few different DVDs and I'm getting the full size grabs every time.

If I do figure out what I'm doing right, I'll post it here.

1024x576 would make sense for a 16:9 widescreen movie as that would be proportionally correct (DVDs are anarmorphic and stuff)

    16:9 seems right.
VLC seems to be taking the settings from the screen resolution, usually, but not always!

It takes the resolution of the video. So with DVd's you should get 1024 * 576, but with DIVX you'll get snap shots the res of the divx's.
