I hear alot of people who all seem to connect to Eirom have got
an attempted variant of the Blaster\Sasser worm try to enter their pc in the past couple of days.

maybe its a coincidence....but has anyone here noticed any higher than average no. of worms enter their system ?

The worm, which propagates through email with an attachment with a .PIF extension, also spreads through network shares upon infection.
So, I take it you need to run the attached file for the virus to infect your system then? I guess if it doesn't say "I love you" in the subject line, people assume it's not that kind of virus.

I have reported a number of virus mails to eircom abuse in the last few days. No feedback yet. They seem to be W32/Nyxem-D coming from cork.

Kama sutra eats network drives for breakfast...I can only imagine the damage that this worm would do on a corporate network, which is exactly the type that email attachment triggered worms are aiming for...
This supposedly arrives promising pr0n, and infection is not immeadiately apparent if your AV is out of date.
