Just wondering what everyone's favourite spirit was.
By favourite, I mean, if you could only have one type of spirit, and whatever you wanted to mix with it, what would you choose?

Tequila for me. Love it, in shots, cocktails, even occasionally in beer.

Your poll lacks a certain... :D

Nah but really. Other than my namesake, good gin is a godsend, good vodka is an excellent substance, and rum would come in a close fourth, but that's mainly for its usage in cocktails.

my favorite is tequila but i drink vodka most often - easier on the nerves.

Irish Whiskey - but was tempted to vote Jager as well.

Jager is not really a "type", more just one particular brand of liqueur.
Liquer should be there, maybe broken into sweet and non sweet. Rum should be split, I hate dark yet love white or aged white. Brandy should certainly be up there.

Never had Cabo Wabo, but I've heard good things, but it's £40 a bottle.
Interstingly It's owned by Sammy Hagar, the second best singer of Van Halen.

Metaxa - a Greek brandy and impossible to get in Ireland. Always pick up a bottle or two in duty frees when I'm away.

    Tastes like liquid raisins.

Which one the 5* or the 7* cos there is a whole world of difference between them, the 5* is nice but the 7* has a distinct taste of soap off of it?

Jack Daniels would be my favourite,
Crimson Gin is a genius invention too

I had some homemade stuff like metaxa, which must have been about 80% alcohol. It burned the throat off me.
About an hour later, I took a drink of some straight vodka, and it tasted like water to me.

Believe it or not Metaxa is also made in Latvia by the ex-Soviet spirit monopoly. That one does *not* taste of liquid raisins. (Shudder.)

A good bourbon (I have a particular soft spot for Wild Turkey Rare Breed), scotch or whisky, or rum.

Neat and room temperature, ideally, and to be savoured. Sips small enough to leave nothing to swallow by the time it gets to the back of your throat.
