Hundreds of mostly small businesses whose use of the Internet was so critical that they were willing to spend €300-1000 euro a month to have an Internet connection are now without. Jobs are likely being put at risk here, especially in rural areas. It's such a waste.

Rkeane16, that is good news at least. From your description, it sounds like Pure Telecom were able to utilise your existing equipment from Aramiska to connect you.

I am just curious: How much are you paying, and do you know the specifications of your new service (e.g. download and upload speeds, and any bandwidth limits, if any).

    Thanks.

Pure resell satlynx who use Gilat or Astra sats , point at the Gilat/ Astra sat and use Gilat gear. I thought Aramiska dishes were pointing at Atlantic Bird 2 , I fail to understand how Pure can supply a service without a site visit and replacing lots of expensive specialised gear .... as would any other VSAT operator looking for the Aramiska buisiness.

The only other transponder on that sat is a Linkstar one I believe .

I am getting 1mb down and 256k up. Cost is €209. They have a finace deal on the equipment/install etc. No download limit. and operating vpn over it.

This new equipment is the same equipment supplied by Mediasat and Digiweb , namely the Gilat/Satlynx gear.

Pure charge about the same price as Digiweb and a lot less than what is essentially the same package from Mediasat (also resold by Eircom)

Finance or no finance the cost of the gear + install is still well over €1000 no matter who provides it for you.

Thats true but from a cash flow perspective its much better not to have to fork it all out up front. Espacially as this is not something that we would have budgeted for.
