ok i have an interview at 3 today. but the thing is i know one of the questions i know will be asked is" what do you know about us/our work/our company.

the thing is the reason i applied for this job was the local FAS office recommended it to me- i have looked all over the net- tried google- even rang family / friends- and no one knows what the company does, i cant get any information about it at all.

What do i do, do i(when asked) explain i couldnt find any info on the company- or do i sit tight and hope for the best

go to www.cro.ie and type the name of the company. the profile should give you some information on them.

Also, ring goldenpages and get their number. Call pretending to be a potential customer and ask some questions about the company

As Keyser said, what's the name of the company? Also what was the position you applied for? Maybe that can tell you something?

    *bump*

interviews are always different. you might not necessarily be asked what you know about the company, and even if they do ask, tell them the truth. you've searched the internet and have been unable to come across them. This should show that you have had the initiative to look up information regarding their company. Depending on what type of company they are, you could always go on by saying that because there is no website there is an unexplored opportunity to develop (not necessarily by yourself) and that there are opportunities for the company to grow and that you would like to be part of any future development

ps. have you tried local papers and asked similar type of companies if they know them.

Get back in touch with your local FAS Office and ask them.
Failing that, most companies have marketing pamphlets/company info at reception. Good luck ;)

I checked the CRO and golden pages, nothing there.

Probably too late now, but for my current job I just admitted that I hadn't a clue what they do, that I'd looked them up on the net but there homepage didn't have very much. The MD who was interviewing me didn't even realise they had a web page, and didn't really care much that I didn't know about them, the whole interview was mainly him telling me about the company and me sitting there nodding.
