This 2000+100 televised main event is one of the best structured tournaments in Europe at the moment. Coupled with the fact one the most famous cardrooms in the world is hosting this event, several Galway players including myself will be making the journey to partiscipate. I believe Nicky O D from Limerick and Stephen "megs" Dunphy will also be travelling. Flights are inexpensive, and hotels are very good value. If any1 interested in joining us we fly out on Wed 1st March and return on Monday 6th.
Peter Roche won this title event two years ago, what are the odds of another Irishman coming home with the trophy?

Fintan the only way your going to get your hands on the trophy is if you steal it , are you going to try and organise a satellite in Galway ?

I could be up for this Fintan... depending on sat structure.

Also ... as you know I can't make the big event in June as I'm in vegas then... But I still like to play the sats when I can. So with this in mind... In the unlikely event I might win a ticket can I take the cash instead?

No offence Len, but this kinda thing really pisses me off. If you play a sat you sould be playing for a non-transferable ticket. Ive come close to winning some tickets only to hear later that the winners had tickets and wanted the cash. If you have a ticket your final table strategy may be different (ie looser and calling when knowing behind and hitting type crap...).

Annoys the hell out of me.

Yeah I agree, what's the point in playing a satellite if you're not going to use the ticket? I might be interested in this Fintan.

Is Len not talking about playing a live sat out West where there may not be as many live game options as there are in Dublin? Wanting to play a sat with a good structure for cash and saying it up front is not a terrible affront imho.

One thing you know for sure is that Len will be playing to win we're not talking about someone online getting to a final table and then asking what the prize is (or being "away" from the table). He's just a guy looking for a good live game and helping to build the prizepool and taking a shot at winning where its a flat prize structure. Plus it's not like its a proposed €5 rebuy or some sort of messing it's a serious investment and I doubt Len is going to be throwing away that kind of money for the craic!

On another issue surely silly monkeys playing stupid and loose online in a sat about which they don't care has to be good in the long run BigD? Annoying when you get the wrong end of it but take it up the ass and think of the long run - or am I wrong here?

    VIENNA SAT
We have played these STT for the WSOP and the Ladbrokes Cruise. Both times winners took up the tickets, even though for the cruise satellite we agreed winner could spend money whichever way they wanted.
Structure was perfect, first 2 levels 20 mins and 30 mins after that, with a 7k starting stack. Both sats lasted 4/4.5 hours.
    THE TOUR SUPER SATS
Pokerevents satellite tickets are non-transferrable unless winner already hold ticket for same event of the reason for non-attendance is of a extreme nature.

Olly, my little rant has nothing to do with Len at all. It just so happened that he brought up the subject. I agree about wanting to play a game, any game..... However that really wasn't my point, which was not aimed directly at Len himself but to the board in general.

    Online.....whhhhhooooolllleeeeeee diff area altogether.:)

This is exactly what pisses me off....... That player is going to sell that ticket to a player that didnt earn it.

You shouldn't have to "earn" a ticket into a poker game, you qualify by putting up the cash yourself. The guy who buys a ticket into the game from a satellite winner earned it just as much as the guy buying in at the desk.

Olly is right in terms of the reason for my asking the question... I wasn't able to make Citywest this year for family reasons and I'm in Vegas in June so can't make the next one... and the one next Jan will also be a no go if it's the same time of year... so at the moment I couldn't make it until June 2007 lol. But I like the weekly tourneys at the Westwood and play them when I can... Though in truth I never seem to do any bl00dy good in them. And the sats are very well run. But them's the rules.

Is the sat going ahead this weekend?

Where will you be running the satellite if it does go ahead Fintan?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 636 ✭✭✭Pokerevents

Vienna sat will be in Westwood. We have a private conference room we use.
Looking like next Saturday @ 7ish.
