Tried to watch a video of Late Late Show (23 December 2005) on RTE.ie, the Bill O' Herlihy part where they talk about his career. I only wanted to watch it for the Apres Match part where they perform a song about him. When i try to watch it, it gets me to download a ".smil " file, and thats all. I cant watch it at all, am i doing something wrong??

On that note, is there anyone who possibly has that song in mp3 or any sort of music file. Would be very very very appreciated if i could get that song somehow on my computer. Thanks for reading this anyway.

Do you have RealPlayer installed, I think that's what's needed for .smil files, have watched a few bits from the show using it.

The 'smil' file isn't the video clip, it's actually just a small information file containing instructions for what do with the video clip you want to see (ie it tells your computer to stream the file rather than download it and also what time index to start and stop playing the file at eg start at 23m05seconds rather than start at 0m0sec etc).

Click on it again and when it asks you to save or open just click 'open' and it should start playing. If your computer can't open the smil file then like BlackOil suggests you probably don't have RealPlayer installed on your computer. You can get free it from www.real.com

For the love of god don't put realplayer on your system...use media player classic along with it's real alternative codecs/plug-ins pack...
