I have 3 sky boxes 1 is sky+ the oldest box is 8yrs old and gave me
problems since i got it,i have to wiggle the scart lead to get a picture
sometimes or sound, i replaced the scart leads but it made no difference
now the picture freezes and if i am watching something on the tv i have to try lip read for a few seconds. It is now getting worse and the picture crashes.
the scart lead has a teddybear on it :D:D it works for a while this way, it
seems to stabilise the lead.I think I should get a new sky box but do I
have to contact sky??I would prefer to buy one from a shop, can I just put
my card in the new box??or do i have to get it registered again with sky??
Also I cant order any box office films from my sky+ the phone line is connected
but each time i try it "says your request timed out"please try again.
    Thanks

jesus eight years old, my cousin has an old grundig and it is the slowest box ive ever used, id say your better off getting a new box altogether, you can get some of the new pace boxes of ebay and they are really fast, i had to get one for our old panny box (which was the best imo) and all i done was a callback to register the card in the box, you can ring up sky just to say you have got a new box, but once the box is in the same phone line, i think they may get the jist that the customer has changed the box, they never contacted us about it anyway.

What make of box is the one that is eight years old. I have an old black grundig GRD200 that I would not part with . The picture quality on it is vastly superior than any of the pace boxes I have. It is a wee bit slow perhaps but the colour rendition on it makes it my favourite box to watch. It broke down once but I got it repaired using a new capacitor kit. these repair kits are easily available. Ask for a quote for repairing your old box before you give up on it.
