Online Poker - Disconnections

I'm using BT Broadband and have got to crucial stages of tournaments and my connection with the Poker software goes. I can still use the internet at the time though. I was in a $5 rebuy tournament the other day and it disconnected twice. I came 3rd and won 500 so it didn't do much harm.

Tonight though was the worst. I was in a limited freeroll to qualify for another tournament for trip to the WSOP in Vegas. Big Prize for the overall winner but tonight was the last night to qualify. Almost 1,000 entered tonight and top 30 qualify for the final. There was about 50 people left and I was dealt QQ. I raised it x2. I was putting in 1/4 of my total stack. I didn't even get to see the flop before it disconnected. I got back on and I was a 1/4 of my stack down and probably would have doubled it up if I wasn't disconnected. It could have been the end of me for that tournament but luckily I made it and came 8th.

It must be a problem with my Internet connection but just wondering if anyone lost something big online from being disconnected. Its one of my worst fears and it seems to be a regulary occurance now.

I can only only assume your on 888.com. Im got to the last 30 of that the other day. 888.com is renowned for disconnects it happens ALL THE TIME with me. I distinctly hate that site becuase of it. Ul about wsop. could have been nice to have your name on the mirror. I dont rate my chances in the final on 2m. what with 600 + people :D

i think it's a dual problem of contention on certain DSL exchanges as well as a problem at the poker server side which is unable to cope with the volume of requests. I have the same problem, but only at certain times of the day,the lag caused by the contention on both ends is causing the poker server to see you as disconnected but there doesn't seem to be as high a lag to websites etc.

It's a real pain and has gotten steadily worse over the last few months. One thing I have noticed is that the problem is far more pronounced using my wireless connection than it is when I'm hooked up through the lan cable.

forgive me for stating the obvious but be sure to clean the system of all internet crap especially coolweb search and its variants. u can download a free cs shredder from downloads.com and of course use anti-ad and free AVG anti virus stuff.

i use em all but my system still acts the maggot sometimes.
ppp was acting up yesterday a little but not today.

    cheers, d.

ad-aware and spybot and run them daily. also as stated use avg.

But tbh Its one of the reasons I left 888.com I used to always get them.

now playing on ppp and ps I never get them.

I was playing $20 heads up last night. I had ~2,500 chips, the other fella had ~500. What happened? Connection went. :( I actually decided to do a $50 heads up after that and won that but I was pissed off after the disconnection. I had to restart the modem and had no time to get back on.

BTW - I'd recommend playing heads ups on holdempoker.com. I'm only a beginner to poker and lost once in about 6 or 7 heads ups. :)

    Hi there,

I am pretty sure that the biggest bad beat as a result of a disconnection happened yesterday on Ladbrokes.

I was playing in the $25/$50 PLO when a pot occured wetween MrPink111(Dave Mosley) and _THEROCK_ (from Gottenburg).

MrPink111 had the nuts all through the hand and by the river there was
$42,000 in the pot (after _THEROCK_ had bet $14,000 on river) but MrPink111 got disconnected and couldn't call even though he had the nuts. Obviously the pot would have been $56,000 had he been able to call. It would not have been a split pot either.

    I nearly puked myself.

    Now thats a bad beat!!!!

played the $200 ppp freezeout at 11pm last night.
literally was getting disconnected every 2nd hand for the first hour.
I even saw myself pass JJ and QQ in unraised pots.
Several seemed to be having probs on the site, but in the tourney i was in, most were on other skins it seems.
After 1 hour, i had played 1 hand, ironically enough with 88 which i moved in with, (i couldnt call, as would get DQ on one of the streets for sure).
70 mins in, and it fixed itself and i was able to play as normal.
I actually came 10th in the end and just missed out on the money having got up to 3rd at one point.
the question is, should i get a refund for this tourney, as i was unable to play as i liked for the first hour (was so frustrating, nearly gave up several times), but ultimately, i was eliminated from it due to my own bad raise with 10 left whilst above average in chips. (where i ran into a big PP).

that is pretty sick alright but how do you know he had the nuts if he couldn't call?

Because he reconnected, was in a bit of a state. He stated his hand to exact suits etc. (not that he had to - if you knew this player you would know his hand without him telling you , for that amount of money he wasnt drawing!)

I was playing an STT at this time last night, and a couple of the oppo had problems. A message popped up 'some of our European players are having connection problems for reasons outside our control'. Or something like that.

So Tribeca were defo aware of a problem, but werent admitting responsiblity for it.
    Might be worth contacting them
