hi. I have wireless internet from Permanet. I love to set up a wireless connection so that I can go around the house without wires. Not sure what I need though. Looked up these routers but you just use them for phone line broadband right? I have a new laptop so it has the wireless adaptor in it so what more do I need? Do I also need a card for the laptop?

    Thanks in advance guys

    ;)

You should be able to use any wireless router to connect to the cable modem (just like a ADSL modem).

How do you find PermaNet? Just looked them up and it looks like they will be operating in my area soon.

IMO they are sneaky with the package names they have versus the speeds.
The have a 2MB residental service which is 1792 Up and 256 down
and a 2MB business service which is 1024 Up and 1024 down.
They have decided that your BB speed is the addition of your max upload and download speeds!!

Yes, but what is their service like? How was the installation? Any problems?

I am surprised that they are considering to offer a service outside of Clonmel as it is already covered by a GBS. Of course, the coverage map could be very old!

Yes, very innovative with the product naming and I am not impressed with their website at all.
